If they could have pushed Encore back.

Total hypothetical situation, I'm sure some will flame me or say "it's been posted", but I've never seen it.

Sometimes I think about why Dre/Iovine/Interscope wasn't like "Em, this CD is pretty much garbage. There are about 6+ songs on here that are trash." I know that's kind of harsh, but it is true. Em was clearly at the peak of his drug stage here.

If they held back on releasing Encore past April of 2006 when Proof died, and then released it in 2007 they could have had a CD that was something like this.

1. Public Enemy #1
2. Careful What You Wish For
3. Evil Deeds
4. Yellow Brick Road
5. Love You More
6. Mockingbird
7. Mosh
8. We As Americans
9. Like Toy Soldiers
10. Difficult
11. Beautiful
12. No Apologies
13. When I'm Gone

There's a good chance that this was not even a possibility, but if Encore was replaced by this CD and released in early 2007, what would you guys think of it?

This is actually a totally different approach to the "how do we fix Encore" question...I'm going to listen to this playlist.
I do stand up.

It wouldn't have ever been a possibility. They weren't going to postpone the album of one of the most popular rappers at the time by 3 years, and then still only come out with an average album.

Relapse?

Relapse > Encore, so it wasn't average.

Relapse >>> Encore.

But Relapse > the tracklist I originally posted? I personally don't think so.

Relapse is a classic not average... that's just me though others might disagree

There are way too many average songs on Relapse for it to be a classic IMO.

Relapse?

As in The Eminem Show (2002) being followed by Encore (2007). Takes 5 years to create this subpar album? This new Encore still wouldn't topple The Eminem Show and be known as a disappointment and that he fell off. At least Relapse>Encore for the most part. Relapse is considered great by many people regardless if it wasn't great for mainstream listeners. I definitely would pick Relapse over this constructed Encore too.

You don't think this version of Encore is 10x better than the original?

Your picking Relapse, with only one song that any average listener can relate to, is better than this tracklist that features mainly only songs people can relate to including classics such as Toy Soldiers, No Apologies, We As Americans, and When I'm gone?

Did we all forget the majority of the songs on Relapse, although great lyrically, have piss-poor content.

Aside from Stay Wide Awake, Same Song and Dance, 3AM, Beautiful, Underground and Deja Vu, the rest of the CD is filler. And of the songs I just mentioned, only Deja Vu and Beautiful are songs people can relate to.

This isn't a topic about how good Relapse is, so please don't turn it into one. I'm just saying it would be a horrible business decision to have released Encore in 2007 like that, and there was no possibility of it. They were not thinking of the future and how they could release it later, it's in the now.
