Invasion

Sup kids...

I used to post on this site pretty often but I stopped a while back just as Recovery came out (which I hated). Anyways, I recently listened to those unreleased King Mathers tracks (Syllables and Difficult) and was so blown away that I went back and started listening to all that old good Em shit. I came across a playlist I made which combined all his mixtape/diss/freestyles from the Invasion days, just been listening to it on repeat for days!

I’d just like to know what you all think of this playlist? Anyone else agree that this would make a fuckin ill little side-project (entitled ‘Invasion) had it been released in ‘03/’04? Take a listen to it and tell me what ya think! Anything you’d change, switch around, add, remove?

01. Invasion
02. Nail in the Coffin
03. The Sauce
04. Bully
05. Conspiracy
06. Monkey See, Monkey Do
07. Girls
08. I Remember
09. Quitter
10. Riddle
11. Hail Mary 2003 ft. 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes
12. Doe Ray Me ft. D12, Obie Trice
13. Bump Headz ft. G Unit
14. We All Die One Day ft. Obie Trice, G Unit
15. Go to Sleep ft. DMX, Obie Trice
16. Say My Name ft. Xzibit, Nate Dogg
17. Canibitch
18. I'm Gone ft. Obie Trice

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

Wait, what is Riddle?

That songs like a song he could of done around the Relapse era, when The Dark Knight came out.

^^

Is it the song with the sick beat?

Damn, I wanted Em to do a whole song on it and not just a vers :'(
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

07. Girls
08. I Remember
09. Quitter

Those 3 are so far ahead of anything else in this playlist. Quitter (love the Snoop/Slick Rick homage btw) and I Remember are just unreally good. Everlast should have just killed himself.

My Name, The Sauce, Nail In The Coffin, Canibitch and Bully are all good tracks, though, just not on the level of the other 3.

The rest are all boring to me.

You know what it is about those 2 songs? Why I enjoyed them so much more than almost everything he's put out in the last year? they just have that Eminem feel. Recovery and the all the guest appearances recently just don't sound like Eminem. I miss that shit. I guess its just nostalgia.

Fokkin prawns are all over the place hahaha. But we just carry on with our lives.

? There's no track by that name.

Anyway, why did you dislike Recovery? That shit is such lyrical murder.

I found Recovery incredibly boring. Production-wise it sounded like a Jay-Z album and just didn't suit Eminem at all. Not even close. The only song I really liked was Ridaz, the bonus track... Besides from that, there really wasn't one hook I liked... and even though Em undoubdtedly lyrically murdered every joint on there, his subject matter was extremely one dimensional, never mind the fact that it seems he's lost the ability to ride the beat like he used to - he just pretty much screams now. The whole thing sounds like an pop-emo album - something Linkin Park would put out. I just don't like it. It's not Eminem anymore, it's something else.

hahahahahahahaha nice one... true that but there is a limit. AT the end of the day, it's still music and I'm not gonna listen to it if I don't like the beat and hook. If i wanted that, I'd read poetry instead. RAP - Rythm & Poetry
