Do you think Em signed

Postby Wreck » Jan 6th, '11, 11:38

shitty talent in the past to Shady Records (besides D12, 50 Cent and maybe Obie Trice) just to make himself look even doper as a rapper, if people heard him rapping on songs with shitty rappers?

If you don't think so, tell me why he hasn't signed Reggie (Redman) yet, and other dope mcs like him? I understand the industry is all politics, paperwork but still.

Stat Quo was ok but nothin special comin from the South
Cashis sucks I think
Bobby Creekwater I heard him on like 2 songs and I didn't like him
and Obie em knew personally and he was 50/50 (ok at times, decent on others)

I partially say this because Em for the last couple of years it seems like, always talks about wanting to sign new, really good talent, and people thought he was just gonna be a guy who brought talent into SR and produce because people thought he was gonna retire around the Encore period. What do you think his approach is?

No way! But i think that dope mcs are afraid of him. I mean nas said that he would never do a song with em specially after renegades.
Its another thing to be wack and have em murder you and another thing being dope.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell no. Lol, paying shitty rappers to make himself look better? Give me a break... People discussing Em had Wayne on No Love for that reason is bullshit enough...

You asking why he hasn't signed any "dope rappers"? It's not like you can pick and choose: "I would like him, him...eeh, let's see... him, and him!"

"Thank you. That'd be $10000000000"

LMAO never really thought of this but I did wonder why he kept signing wack rappers, Obie is pretty good and kinda underrated but aside from that all the other new dudes he signed (Stat, Cashis, Bobby Creekwater) were wack as fuck. Atleast he finally signed Royce after 11 years lmao, and let him bring Slaughterhouse with him. :y:

Btw let me clarify this so I don't get any Stans saying "Oh Em didn't no Obie." Yes I know. Bizarre knew Obie and introduced him to Em, so it was a still a personal sign partially, because it's not as compared to somebody he just signed that he had no prior connections to (that knew friends, family, co-workers etc.) like a Cashis or Bobby Creekwater. But also, Obie still had to freestyle like everybody else has to do, to still get into SR :8).

Yeah, I hardly think Em signed Obie 'cause Bizarre knew him.

Yeah but it's not like he's signing decent rappers. These guys, some of em, aren't even decent, they just suck. Think about this, Em, the most successful rapper in the history of hip hop, makes a shitload of money, you're telling me he can't hire a bunch of top notch A&Rs, multiple A&R to work besides Riggs Morales, to FIND good talent, BETTER talent then some of these fuckin artists. Em is a good record company owner, but not great, but way fuckin better then Jay was/is. Jay scammed so many fuckin people out of music when he was working at Def Jam. Em is a lil different but he could still afford to find excellent talent all around the country to make him even more money, and for him to work with him musically.

I know it looks like I made this a money issue. It's not that he can't afford to sign shitty rapper but I just can't see why he would do that. Frankly, I think it's retarded to even think that.

He still didn't sign Royce as a solo act which is what Royce wanted because he doesn't make him money, but getting to work with 4 incredible, dope mcs all at once, Em couldn't pass up that opportunity. I think that's a selfish move just a little bit by Em. He made him his hype man which is a really great honor to let Royce make money like that, but Royce respectfully chose to work on his solo hip hop career. I'm not saying Em's an asshole because he didn't sign him when he was a solo act, but it would of been awesome had he done that, and I think he would of stayed Em's hypeman too, and thus their could of never been a total Em/Proof reunion, and a D12.

Huh? I dunno what you're trying to say there, or what you meant to say, but I don't think it's retarded. Money is Power. And it wasn't like I mentioned something taboo. I just said that with all the money that Em has and makes he could sign a better fuckin rapper then Cashis. Cashis is somebody I could see a shitty, down the drain label sign, like Duck Down Records, who ironically almost first signed Em back awhile ago.

Yeah, I know that's what you said. But the thread is about whether or not Em signed the "shitty rappers" to make himself look better. And that, to me, is retarded. Yeah, money is power. But if Em wanted more money that bad he'd tour and drop two albums every year. That's one of the many great things about Em, he really doesn't care about money. I'm not saying he's like "Fuck money, I don't care if I'm broke", but he's not like 50.

Revolutionary wrote:I got a feeling that Em didn't wanna sign Cashis, Stat & Bobby.
But he was so high that he didn't he signed them, so what he did is, bore them to death until they are finally realizing that they'll never release an album and apparently that worked on 2 outta 3 and the one thats lift is still hoping for an album release which i doubt.
But on him not signing dope mcs, i don't think he's scared of mcs that would out do him because he'd be stupid if he was thinking that. Because label owners gotta sign the dopest mcs around so they would carry the label after he's gone. Like what Jay did(signing J Cole Jay E).
So that makes me feel that he's just too lazy. BTW signing SH is not a smart move as it was obvious(ever since Royce got back with Em, he's been with him everywhere he goes). P.S let's not forget that the only rappers that released albums under Shady Records are people that were close to Em/D12!

Why do you think signing Slaughterhouse is/will be a bad move? SH is fuckin dope to me but I'm interested in your opinion on this. And people we don't know yet that SH OFFICIALLY signed, but it's safe to say we know they are going to once the fuckin paperwork is finally done :y:.
