When Encore first came out, what were your first thoughts?

When I first listened to this I saw it on TV and thought to myself "I better buy this it might be good."
Being so young I bought it anyway and did my thang bumping it at my home like any other teenager would.

It was one of those albums that sounded more mainstream in a sense of the way it sounded like it was a matured version of eminem wearing a suit and tie up on stage loading a gun getting ready to shot everyone.

It had that nostalgic buzz to it too but despite all these qualities some of the songs were just horrible.
I mean they are eminem songs performed by eminem; I can't hate them at all right?
That's the half truth..It's really a contradiction to love and hate something.

But when I say its terrible I mean more about the songs themes then the beats and the lyrical structure.
It was really em just doing his thing like he did in '97 plus a lot of scatological humor and vomiting.

In summary I thought this album wasn't good but wasn't horrible.

I actually thought it was good except for My 1st Single, Ass Like That and Just Lose It. Even then, I didn't like those

I listened to it when I was in 6th grade, I loved it back then. Was constantly on repeat. Not the same at all anymore.

i was 13 and a huge eminem fan... eminem show got me into rap and after i heard that every eminem song i loved... than encore came out and i liked half of it. the other half i remember listening like "wtf" taking about his big weenie and sticking his dick in a guys butt and other gay shit... he should have never made encore or the song fack (which is very encore-esque)

I still remember this shit dropping like it was yesterday... was 15 at the time and had been listening to Em and some other basic rap (Nas, Jay, DMX, Pac, etc) for a year or 2... I fuckin LOVED the first 6 or so songs but I realized something wasn't right when it came to songs like Puke, Rain Man and Big Weenie. I already thought Just Lose It sucked but I figured it was his usual goofy first single.

Anyways the best thing about Encore is that it inspired me to start rapping. I listened to it and thought 'fuck that, i can do a better job than this shit' and began writing my own shit.

At the end of the day Encore isn't the worst album I've ever heard. Eminem's worst album for sure. But there's a lot of really good material on there that i still bump to this day. Pitty about all the bullshit tho
