I've never quite understood that, why does touring equal more album sales ? is it because more buzz is generated or do the people going to the concert suddenly realise they like the music, then go buy the album?

Yeah, It creates more buzz to the album and fans are buying the album later.

Just look at Gaga. She do some crazy stuff at her tours and they always make headlines in music websites and stuff.

+ Alot of the fans that goes to the shows dosen't have the album so they could pick it up later.

Example : When Eminem had his home tours , he had a rise on his album sales. It was because alot of the fans bought the album after the show, And the tour was so big that it made headlines in all Music websites. A bonus was that Jay z was there. His fans maybe heard Eminem's songs and bought the album after so that's why touring is kind of important.

Especially WORLD TOURS.

Also it is a great way for the artist to collect some GOOD MONEY.
Most of the artist make their money of tours and commercials.

I'm not sure WW tour is better for album sales than shit like Grammy performances (and wins) and Brit performance ect...

You are right. Look at what you said. Worldwide Tours and promotion Em dit that before. Like you said he's got a mega loyal fanbase he doesn't to do that anymore. All the big awards, big live (SNL, MTV, probably Brit, Gram, UK channel) is enough.
