So, I finally have my blog up. And, I'm kicking it off with a series of posts on the evolution of Eminem; as an artist, rapper, and public figure.
So, sticking to official studio output and defining each 'era' by ablums, I started with Infinite. Next came The Slim Shady EP, an extract of the post...
Slim Shady, in this form, was like a psychotic class clown; Eminem on acid; a murderous jester on an anti-social rampage; a conflicted, comedic nut-case determined to disgust, intrigue, bamboozle, terrify and make you laugh, all at once. It was the beginning of Eminem’s first foray into seriously noteworthy artistic territory, the dumping of the punchlines and rhyming for its own sake and the start of head-spinning provocation – revolutionary rhyming in a cartoon coating.
These posts are really more just to explore and analyze the sounds and styles of each era, his aims and artistry rather than give a complete opinion on the material itself. So, although there may be some of that, these aren't reviews.
They're attempts at complete explorations into the period.
Next up, will be The Slim Shady LP.
