Dre McKenzie who runs A&R at G-Unit (and is the connect with Shady) said towards the end of last year on People Needs Change radio that an initial announcement on the new "team" roster would be made within the first week of 2011 (a few days late) and then another one would made soon after which relates to the entire team (I think he means G-Unit/Shady/Aftermath). He said this was going to be a huge year for all of them because they thought they had only themselves to blame for not controlling the game the first time around after having it by the scruff of the neck - (Eminem's drug issues, Dr. Dre's disapperance and 50 Cent's boredom with rap, The Game's beef within the camp).

What does this have to do with G-Unit? SH and Yelawolf won't be signed to G-Unit, maybe Aftermath and Interscope, but definitely not that.

I think he means that there is more to come other than just these two signings since the A&R said that.

Amazing news, I'm pretty damn excited!!! I didn't like Yelawolf after the first listen, but gave him a few more chances, and I really like his style, it's unique and fresh. As a lot of you said, this is gonna be a huge year for SR.

Oh, and stop arguing like little kids. :coffee:

It has to do with Interscope which runs all of them.

Some of the major labels will be merging within the new few months (watch this space), and there's rumors that Def Jam will be merging with either Universeal or Interscope.

This means that artists will be shifted and contracts will be either changed, edited or completely terminated.

Expect a lot of movement. This is just the initial announcement, there's plenty of more to come, and according to Dre McKenzie, the "camp" (he means G-Unit, Shady and Aftermath) will have a few of their own too.

That's fucking awesome man.

I haven't fully locked into Yelawolf yet just heard a few tracks (and he's great). But I never would of expected Em to sign him, or Slaughterhouse.

As they're, lyricists. So it'll be a test for him to be able to make them big commercially too. Although, they'll get automatic attention due to association of course.

Am really excited about both these singings. I think they all compliment Em's style and will bring out the best in him and will all be competition from every angle. As apposed to those cheesy gangsta fucks he had on there who were some of the worst lyricists in history.

I don't really understand major music labels if I'm perfectly honest.

Universal Music Group (UMG) is basically the big/main label that Eminem is signed to?
or at least the 'parent company'

Then INTERSCOPE (which is a subsidiary of Universal)

and then AFTERMATH, Dre's label.... which is a subsidiary of INTERSCOPE

and then Shady Records which fits in where exactly?

and then 50 with G-Unit etc

I wonder how much power Eminem actually has with Shady Records, with all the politics that must go on behind the scenes with the major bosses etc.

Shady Records is a subsidiary of Interscope, just like Aftermath. Em signs a shit load of joint deals with Aftermath though, so people generally just refer to both labels as Shady Aftermath.

G-Unit is also a subsidiary of Interscope.

They announced the tracklist today, actually.
