Last decade (2000-2009), the majority of these albums were great music, and were all very commercially successful. The only release to ever flop on Shady Records is the EP that Cashis dropped in 2007, which sold like 7,000 copies in it's first week.
I wonder though, with the news we have just got about the signing of Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf can this decade be as big, or even bigger for the label? There could still be some more signings too?
I don't just mean big as in commercial success, I mean both sales, impact, relevance.... AND the quality of the music.
There has only been one Shady Records release in this decade and that was Recovery. IMO that was a good album, and is also the #1 selling album of the year, so a great start.
I think there are exciting times ahead. Can't wait. Thoughts?
