Scarface top 25 songs (stillmatic edition)

Postby stillmatic » Jan 14th, '11, 06:07

Way before the likes of T.I. and way before even artists who have been around for ages like Outkast, there was the original king from the South.

"As the frontman for the groundbreaking southern Hip Hop group The Geto Boys, Scarface brought horrifying realism to Hip Hop with each and every group and solo album he released. With subject matter ranging from Drugs to Life to Heaven and Hell, Scarface dropped knowledge that many lyricists were afraid to touch at the time". Combined with a raspy delivery, Scarface will always be the King of the South. He is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest rappers of all time, making it in a lot of peoples top 5 lists.

So this thread is for people who are fans of his, or don't know his music and would like to get into it.

*note - this will not include Geto Boys' tracks (thats for another day), this is simply solo songs.

G-Code

"We don't talk to police".....from Geto Boys' second group reunification album (The Foundation) since 1996, Scarface goes solo on this song which is classic modern Scarface, talking about the rules of the street over a bouncy beat he produced himself.
Cool lyrics: I can see it in your face, in the middle of your soul/You in question of your manhood homey - keep the code/

Body Snatcher

Homicidal maniac with suicidal tendencies is how 'Face describes him, and one listen to his music and you can't help but agree with his quirky tales.

Game's over (ft. Dr.Dre, Ice Cube, Devin the Dude & Too Short)

From 'Face's 1997 album 'The Untouchables' this OG track is one of the best all star collabs in Hip Hop history. Typical Scarface song over a typical Dr. Dre beat, typically great that is.
Cool lyrics: Buck the whole world meant that/ gotta stay strapped cuz 99.9% a niggaz, carry they gats/
