Rappers on non rap/hiphop/r&b tracks???

Postby FreeSpeech » Jan 16th, '11, 00:06

What rappers have been featured on songs by artists who would typically never be on a song with a rapper? I know it's hard to define a genre sometimes, but just try to use common sense. Like, a rapper on a Beyonce song would be no suprise. Basically, what are some songs featuring rappers you would never expect to have happened. Here's some I can think of:

In For The Kill (remix) - La Roux ft. Kanye West
Monster - MJ ft. 50 Cent

Snoop Dogg on California Girls by Katy Perry, Ludacris on Baby by Justin Bieber (Especially this one. Seriously, wtf Luda).

"Baby" might be considered R&B, idk, but it's by a white 16 year old with a prepubescent inverted-balls voice, so it doesn't really sound like it.

I didn't listen to it so I don't know what genre it is, but Raekwon also did a song with Justin Bieber.

To reiterate ^

And also I just remembered Ghostface Killah fits this thread perfectly. I personally don't listen to his solo work but if I remember correctly he was/is/did going to release an R&B crossover album. I'd check that out.

See I don't count that link you posted, Jonell is an R&B artist, it's not weird if she works with a rapper. Rap and R&B go together. Her first single was a song with Redman.

I'm looking for tracks that make you go "What? there's a rapper on this?"

Good luck finding that. I mean most rappers on on Hip-Hop tracks are on R&B which their track is usually basically a Hip-Hop structured beat, then you got the remixes of popular songs with a guest rap vocal. It's hard to find because pop music went very "Urban" (i use that term loosely) in the 90's due to Hip-Hop's acceptance as a mainstream genre so the influence would've affected any potential collaborations.
John Legend's Get Lifted has Kanye and Snoop on tracks but i dunno if that's what you mean. I mean it's a bit of Soul/R&B I dunno, i'ma fucking Hip-Hop head.

Hope that helps
