if eminem was black... im sure everything would be different... a lot of his popularity in the beginning was because he was really the only white rapper with talent.. which made him stand out a little more.. if he was black.. who knows he may have not been notice.... no idea

50 % of his fame is because his skin-colour, that's just how it is, you can't deny it, I can't deny it.
But I'd probably not feel the same for his music if he was black, don't know why, but I just wouldn't.

no i will feel totaly difrent cause i like him so much because of his perseverance after all he has gone trough to get where he is now
if he was black he would have never acomplished as mush as he did now
he would have been just another fantastic rapper

i agree wit u man ... i would listen to his shit and buy his cd's but one of the big reasons i like em (and dont think im crazy) is cause he kinda gav me a role model ... im white and i deal wit all kind of racism when i rap at clubs and when i pass out cd's that ive made ... ive been looked down on took the cracker jokes.. got in fights got my ass kicked and kicked ass blah blah ... but since he made it big and havin his background kind of inspires the crazy white guy in us all .. kno wha i mean??

I would not feel the same because I can't relate as well to him. Though I'd still respect his work equally. And though race doesn't pre-determin your rapping it is pretty obvious blacks can rap better. This is not a prejedice statment at all. All races are born a little diffrent. This is why blacks can jump and run slightly faster.

But all in all I probably might like him even more just because his music would have a little more appeal. He wouldn't have any gimmicks to rap off of, not that he uses his being white as a gimmick much anyway.

I was not into hip hop much around 6 years ago, only ever heard the mainstream artists but Eminem stood out clear to me cause at the time he seemed so clear with his words and something about Forgot About Dre stood out to me .. I guess it was timing as I was just turning into a team and the whole 'I don't give a fuck' vibe seems mighty cool at the time

.. now it does seem a tad immature cause wether or not you give a fuck, we live in a society ( well I do at least =D ) .. we're not giving a fuck and being a rebel won't get you anywhere.

So to answer the question, I don't think his skin colour has anything to do with it, I'd agree with others by sayng it was his style and timing that made things work.
