Has anyone noticed this?

Postby WakeUpShow » Jan 17th, '11, 19:39

1. this is not a religious debate even though it may come of as one

2. Take a look at the "Religious People are stupid" thread someone made in General News

3. Does it seem to anyone else that non-religious ppl are very insecure as opposed to religious people? Like = what was the point of going out of your way to make a thread bashing religious people. I feel like most religious people live and let live for the most part. Atheists on the other hand always feel the need to bring people down.

4. Please don't argue over the existence of God, only the subject at hand.

Non-religious people are like haters. They want to pollute others with their hate. Belive in God, or don`t, but let others belive.

lol I forgot I was actually gonna post in this thread for realsies.

I'm an Atheist, but I don't fall under that category. I guess I'll say what is always said; "not all Atheists are like that". But yes, I do notice lots trying to bash other religions, and saying there's no god, etc. I'd say that's pretty disrespectful, you're bashing another person's beliefs just so you can push your own on them. Just no. :shakehead:

For me, if someone's religious, believes in god or many gods, that's cool. If it's a religion I don't really know much about, then I'll ask more about it. I'd only have a problem if they tried to push their beliefs on me, but that has never happened in my life so I'm happy.

^You seem to be of the more "tame" athiests. Most of the ones I meet bash religion and think religious people are all stupid, cave man like idiots and are constantly trying to disprove God and shit like that. It gets really annoying and makes them seem like pompous assholes.

It seems like whenever there are discussions regarding religion on the internet, there will always be at least a few people who will use their anonymity to spew hate. However, it's not just some athiests, religious people can also be very hateful towards people other religions.

@ cosh, I've read some of the stuff you've said about Muslims/Islam, and you've made some very hateful, generalized statements too. For example:
Call Me Racist. FUCK MUSLIMS. They are, for the most part, disgusting hate-filled people who try to change other peoples culture because they are so scared of their own culture and religion. so they feel everyone must live in fear. Those dickless subhumans burning that flag will have fun burning in hell. I know some muslims are not like that, but they don't try to stop the extremists, they just wait for someone like me to say something, and they pop up to defend themselves, after which they return to their holes to rape and beat women, while eagerly awaiting their chance with 72 virgins because they can't get women on earth.

/rant.

I get that that you were angry there but it's not an excuse for say things like that.

Anyways, its the internet, this is where people say things they can't get away with saying in real life. I've personally only met one really narrow minded athiest who treated religious people like idiots- my philosophy teacher in grade 12. He was a pretentious prick. My world religions professor might be a close second though.

Some Atheists need to stop and think about "religious people are all stupid". Let's take Sir Isaac Newton for instance, he was intelligent and he was religious, we wouldn't be where we are today without people like him. There might be God(s), science says a lot and religion says a lot, but we don't know for sure. My physics teacher in high school believes in everything about science, and he believes in God. With me being curious person I asked him why. He said that science basically proves everything up until "the big bang", if that's when the universe was created, he believes there must be some intellectual being out there that created what happened before the big bang, and that it just didn't happen by chance. Because the universe is so complex, with all the matter, anti-matter, leptons, quarks, etc. He went more into depth, it was such a good talk.

lo dbiggie for the win. but yeah that was in a religious argument, which is no excuse for the stuff I said. But what I meant is randomly they will bring stuff up not in an argument, know what I mean?
