Your 10 Favourite Rappers & Why

Postby Richy » Jan 21st, '11, 22:34

1. Tupac
He raps from his heart, he may not use multies but with that passion in his voice who the fuck cares. He will forever be my favourite rapper. He was a really good actor as well.

2. Eminem
I don't need to explain why, do I? lmao

3. Lil Wayne
I used to hate this guy so much, but then I listened to his mixtapes and damn this guy is a beast.
His punchlines is funny as hell and i love his flow.
I always listen to Weezy when I'm drinking which I do right now :b:

4. B.O.B
I fucking love all his songs, not only do he rap but he sings and plays guitar and makes beats as well.

5. Young Buck
Damn, 50 was an idiot for letting him go. He reminds me of Pac in alot of ways..
His passion in his voice, his style. I really dig this guys music.

6. Snoop Dogg
I love his music and his laid back style. I love his album Ego Trippin'.
Definition of "Swag" :smoking:

7. Hopsin
This guy is dope as FUCK. I have talked to him on tinychat a few times and he is funny as hell.

8. Ice Cube
I love his music, especially his earlier shit.
Today was a good day is :worship:

9. 50 Cent
I don't like his music that much anymore, but he used to be soooo dope, he is also the most
entertaining guy in the rap game. Seems like a really cool and funny guy to hang out with.

10. Royce Da 5'9
He's really dope.

5 for me

1. 2pac - The passion that he puts into his songs is what originally had me hooked. Nobody puts more spirit to a lyric than Tupac. He is simply the best.

2. Eminem - I borrowed the SSLP from a friend back in 6th grade just after it was released, and there was something about him that i just loved. The beats and the anger and the flow and the controversy and the cursing and he's white? I have been a huge follower of Eminem's career since then.

3. Tech N9ne - This guy is just insane. A very good insane. The way he can fit so many damn words into a verse is unbelievable sometimes. I was first attracted to Tech because of the incredibly fast rapping that he often displays, but then I realized there is much much much more to enjoy about him. Soo many great songs. Caribou Lou! Tecca Nina is the man!

4. Slug - Slug is another of my all-time favorites. The front-man of Atmosphere really gives off some poetic vibes. I love how deep some of the lyrics are and how Slug can make them flow so well over his signature production sound.

5. Talib Kweli - Always a huge fan of his distinct voice and flow, Talib Kweli is an extremely talented rapper. He in very introspective and knows how to tell his story over the beat. His work as Reflection Eternal is especially impressive, but his overall category of music is very entertaining.

1. Eminem - His first three albums are without a doubt classics. Even his worst album, Encore, isn't that bad. He made two great comeback albums, Relapse and Recovery. I think he's a master of his craft, and one of the GOATS

2. Tupac - Biggie would be in this spot, but Pac's passion and song-writing far outweighs Biggie IMO. But Biggie was a better MC, Pac was a better artist. Pac's songs are poetry

3. Biggie - His storytelling skills are incredible. One of the greatest MCs ever

4. Hopsin - He reminds me a lot of an old school Eminem. I'm not saying he's copying Em, because he's not, they just had similar styles. He is a great lyricist and storyteller, I'm definitely glad I actually checked Raw out

5. Kanye West - What can I say? Despite what you may feel about him, he's one hell of an artist. A true visionary

6. Immortal Technique - Conspiracy theories aside, this motherfucker sure does know how to rhyme

7. Kid Cudi - He's not the best lyricist, but he has a smooth flow and great storytelling abilities. His production is always great too. Both of his studio albums are incredible albums

8. Jay-Z - He's a great rapper and a legend, somehow he finds a way to keep staying relevant. He kinda fell of during BP3, but he's doing a lot better these days. His features with Kanye have all been fire

9. Lil Wayne - I'm not a big fan, but his current shit has been pure fire. Leagues beyond the pile of shit that was C3. I'm extremely interested in hearing C4, so I'm guessing he deserves a spot on this list

10. T.I. - Smooth flow and voice, and his recent album is actually very good to me, despite how unsuccessful it was in terms of sales. No Mercy (song) has to be one of my favorite songs from last year

Eminem- he's got a song for every felling and just based off mechanics he's unstoppable

Nas- story telling and flow are amazing

Jayz- based off of his first 4 cds, the blueprints and the black album

Method man- top flow ever

Jadakiss- just needs a classic album

that's my top five

My next five in no order are ghostface, raekwon, biggie, and maybe wayne and banks
be the best you can be, and if thats not good enough for people... than fuck em

1. Slim Shady(97-01)
Words can't describe how fucking dope he was back then, perfect mix of dope multies, fucked up subject matter & raw flow & style. I can't find one thing to dislike about Slim Shady at all.
I also got introduced to underground & horrorcore from listening to shit of his and wanting similar rappers.

2. Immortal Technique
Speaks the fucking truth, knows what he's talking about, doesn't give a fuck what the industry thinks. He has a lot of the same viewpoints as I do & so far the ONLY love song I like is by him (You Never Know)

3. Celph Titled
DOPEST punchlines of all time, people criticize him for only using punchlines but with ones as dope as his who needs the other shit if he's fully mastered punchlines, and in some songs he displays good storytelling skills.

4. Diabolic
Discovered him while listening to Technique. Been listening to him more and more lately, one of the dopest underground rappers by far. He's like a mix of my top 3 with fucked up subject matter & humor, speaking the truth about the industry & having dope punchlines (yall just talking shit like Mr Hankey  )

5. DZK
Another dope underground rapper similar to Diabolic on that crazy shit, not very well known though I was surprised people on here knew who he was. I had to download all his songs off of youtube since I couldn't find torrents with his music.

6. Apathy
I heard of him while listening to Celph but just discovered him for real like 2 weeks ago actually, downloaded & listened to his shit & he's got a simillar style to Diabolic on that crazy white boy shit which is my kinda music. Nothing to say about him that I haven't said about the others.

7. Hopsin
New school Slim Shady as far as i'm concerned, heard a couple of his songs way back but didn't go and listen to all his shit and really become a fan till I got on here. Dude has a huge chance of blowing up or atleast ending up semi mainstream like Tech N9ne.

8. Eminem (95-96, 02-present)
While I'm not as big of a fan of his Eminem/Marshall Mathers styles as Slim Shady he's still on my top 10, a buncha great/dope shit still and I can relate to a lot of the shit he raps about.

9. Tech N9ne
He's just straight crazy that's all I got, mixing fast ass rapping with all them multies. He always reminded me of Brotha Lynch Hung and when I found out BLH is signed to his label I was blown the fuck away.

10. Mac Dre
Not as lyrical as the rest but he's got some great shit to just chill out and smoke to. RIP.

My top 10 always changes though and others that have been/might end up on it include Necro, Slaughterhouse, Brotha Lynch Hung, Rhyme Asylum, Kanye, Snoop Dogg, T.I. , Esham & Wax.

They change constantly, but my current personal favorites, in no real order (Em is 1):

Eminem - Every album is great, he has a song for everything. He's funny, lyrical, and just entertaining. I could go on for pages but I won't.

Kanye West - People think he isn't that lyrical, but his lyrics speak to me more than nearly any other rapper. His beats are amazing, and he's just entertaining. Every album is amazing. I also love how he moved rap away from the gangsta G-Unit era.

Jay-Z - So many good songs and albums. His lyrical stuff like Moment of Clarity is amazing, and his generic rap tracks are bangers too. I also really respect his constant presence in the game and his business talent.

Lupe Fiasco - He's very intelligent and insightful without being pretentious like IT or Canibus. Food & Liquor is one of the top albums of the last decade.

Lil Wayne - He's straight up entertaining and pumps out mostly quality music at a great rate. His mixtapes are sick, and the Carter albums are all great. He's a go to anytime I just need a good rap song playing.

Drake - His lyrical stuff is excellent, he get's so little cred for it. I like how he sings, and he will go down as a legend. Hate on him now, but he has the talent to be one of the best to do it. TML was a rushed project, he said so himself. I'm expecting his next album to be incredible.

Kid Cudi – So unique, very artistic, and he has an amazing voice. No other rapper comes close to his style.

Andre 3000 – Smooth flow, great personality, smart guy. His Outkast stuff is the definition of ingenuity. He opened the doors for alternative rappers.

Tupac – He is one of the most personable people ever, rap aside. He was so articulate and intelligent, and he has so many songs I will never tire of. Can’t C Me is an all-time favorite.

B.o.B. – Andre 3000 2.0 yet he’s completely original. Can’t wait to see what he does in the future.

Copywrite- Greatest punchline rapper of all time, has an insane flow, perfect delivery, dude's music is chock full of multis but he still says great things. No one can rip a beat like him. Plus he's from Ohio.

Sadistik- Only found this guy recently but he is without a doubt the greatest writer I've ever heard. His music can't be put into words, it's amazing though, without a doubt.

DZK- The most vicious rapper there has ever been. I'm positive no rapper on earth can go verse for verse with him. From 04-07 he murdered more verses than any other rapper will in there life.

Diabolic- Kind of like DZK but more toned. He's the god of multis but he has an awesome, raw delivery and some great punchlines. Plus he makes great concept songs like Behind Bars, 12 Shots, Order & Chaos, ect.

Possessed- Probably the best all around lyricist there is. The king of horror core wordplay, great rhymes, sicker punchlines. Could take any other rapper on any given day.

Prince Ea- Most intelligent rapper there is, dude has taught me a lot with his music. I rep the Make Smart Cool Movement.

Vinnie Paz- Along with Stoupe created the greatest rap album of all time, Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell. He's kind of fallen off though so he's not as high but his song making ability is amazing.

Hopsin- I absolutely love this guy as a person. He makes so many songs I can relate too it's unreal. Plus he has humor, a sick, unique flow, and dope rhymes.

Bekay- The king of emotional songs. Nobody puts there heart in there music like him. Great story teller, expecially when it's his own life. He has influenced my music a lot.

Kid Cudi- The guy who stands out on my list but the dude makes amazing music. The Heart of a Lion always cheers me up when I need it. He just makes great melodies and inspirational stuff.

Rakim - "I can go on for days and days with rhyme displays that engrave deep as x-rays, I can take a phrase that's rarely heard, flip it, now it is a daily word."

LL Cool J - "I'm unique when I speak to a beat, another rapper will fall when the mission's complete."

Eminem - "That's why we sing for the kids who don't have a thing, except for a dream and a rap magazine...."

Jay-Z - "9 to 5 is how you survive, I aint trying to survive, I'm trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot."

Nas - "I rap for listeners, blunt heads, fly ladies and prisoners, hennessey holders and old school ni**as."

Talib Kweli - "I remember Oklahoma when they put out the blaze and put islamic terrorist on the front page, that's like saying only gays get aids, propaganda."

Big daddy kane - "I profile a style that's mild and meanwhile put on trial a rap pile to exile."

The Notorious Big - "The streets are a short stop cus either you slinging crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot."

Big L - "I'm not only fed up with punk ass cab drivers who don't stop, they don't care if it's snowing, first they slow down, then they see your skin is brown, then they keep goin."

Common - "Even if they don't try, some ladies test men."

No order by the way. I had to leave out a lot of great rappers such as KRS-one and Masta Ace :/
"Historically speaking cause people be dissin', the first graffiti artists in the world were the Egyptians." - KRS-One

1. Eminem- A true artist, one of the best lyricists of any genre ever
2. Nas- A street poet, The message is one of my favorite songs ever.
3. Biggie- His presence on the mic, and storytelling abilities were outstanding R.I.P
4. Andre 3000- Best flow ever. point. blank. period.
5. Xzibit
6. Crooked I- His technique is off the charts. I wish he went a little deeper than punches and multis.
7. Kid Cudi- Not lyrical, but he can write a damn good hook, and his music is so relaxing and moving
8. Royce da 5'9"- The essence of an MC, has every element down pat.
9. Jay-Z- His old stuff is incredible, and he's a legend. But he fell off for a good while, but he's back
10. Joe Budden- His ability to be emotional, while still being mindblowing in terms of lyricism is only
matched by Em and Nas.
