Aesop Rock? Opinions?

Postby FreeSpeech » Jan 23rd, '11, 10:09

I don't hear his name brought up much on this site. He's one of my favorite underground/alternative guys. I love his voice/flow and the overall sound of his music. His lyrics are seemingly random much of the time, but when you analyze them they have a lot of poetry and meaning.

Winners Take All is one of my favorite tracks, the "chorus" is sick. All his albums are great, nothing weak in his catalog.

Aes is dope. One of the pioneers of underground, along with slug. I have his entire discography, but I have to say that "none shall pass"is by far his best album. The production and overall quality is amazing. The song "none shall pass"is one of my favorite by him, as well.

Appleseed is also a great cd.

Yeah None Shall Pass is my favorite, then Fast Cars, Danger, Fire & Knives even though it's an EP.

I've listened to some of his work, and I agree "None Shall Pass" is the best thing by him that I've heard. Besides that, I feel like his style just doesn't really appeal to me. I can definitely appreciate his poetic ability, but at times I feel like he is "cheating" the game with his erratic flow, if you know what I mean?

I've also got 9-5ers Anthem, Daylight, and No Regrets in my collection. What are some other absolute favorites that you recommend.

Anything off Fast Cars is definitely good. Float off of Float album is great.

The only album I have is Labor Days and it didn't appease me very much so I never checked anything else out.
You think your personal attacks make up for what you lack?

Really? With all the rappers you like I'd think Aesop would be one of your favorites, or at least admired.
