Most of the criticism is because people expected something else. People didn't get exactly what they wanted and instead of enjoying the album for what it is, they just bitch and hate it for what it isn't. If the accents were his normal voice, it would be appreciated more.

It also annoys me that everyone says Kanye West's and Eminem's new albums are comeback albums. It's like they think that albums are an artistic failure if they don't sell much.

Another accent defense thread. It's so corny and doesn't fit with most songs he done and it's forced so there's no need for them. I understand trying not to sound the same but to have an forced accent ruins potentially decent tracks.

Also people stop bitching when someone criticises Em for whatever they don't like in his new songs. You like the new Em, good for you but shit will get compared to his old work so if someone feels disillusioned no need to get fucking defensive you ain't Eminem

I place the hate for Relapse's accents on bad timing. 4 years since we hear an album off him and he comes back with that? Lots of fans just wanted more lol, the kinda stuff he was saying on Recovery is what we wanted to hear. (Though i'm talking about concept before someone tries to contradict me on the fact i've said before some of the tracks annoy me due to the shouting)

Basically it wasn't what people expected and they were shocked

For the record the accents mostly fit the songs he did on Relapse in the first place. Couldn't have done most of them without it lol

dinn't mean to sound defensive em clearly dont need me fighting his battles, its just 100% clear these lil forums mean more than people think i mean even eminem himself in not afraid says accents are done alot of that must be due to fan feedback. So basically im just trying to gauge how many people really hate them and show that some fans do love them.

maybe not, maybe now people can make an opinion without worrying whether the accents are a permanent fixture in shady's lyrical mixture! dont wanna discuss then dont.

i've actually found a way to deal with it it's pretty simple for anyone knowing a minimum about music programs.. basically just download a music mixing program anc pitch the songs (or the voice track if possible) off relapse a little bit and it makes his voice much more tolerable..

answering the question of the person who made this topic..
yes experimenting is fine but not all experiments have to be loved and all experiments definitely shouldn't be brought out to the public.. i've learned to live with the accents but i'm sure i would have enjoyed the album a lot more without them.. in the few cases where it's necessary to make certain rhyme schemes it's fine.. but overusing it without a real purpose makes it misplaced.. cus lyrically and content wise it's straight Slim Shady Lp
