When relapse came out, i wasnt very fond of it. So then recovery came out, i loved it... or so i thought. It was a relief not to hear the accents, so i think thats why i was initially drawn to it. I listened to it for about a week... and never again since
Its soooooooooooo unlike the eminem i used to love so much. Which is not a bad thing for most people, but for people like myself, Im not very happy.
Relapse is like a modern day SSLP, and the more i listen it the more i love it... Its easily one of his best alums ever, and if he had done the whole album, same songs and same flows.. just minus the accent, it could be his best yet. Relapse was/is everything that slim shady/eminem is, and everything represents.
In my opinion he completely bitched out / sold out with recovery. He changed his ENTIRE style, his individuality and his originality for this album. Everything that his younger fans and girls(kids that grew up and never listened to eminem till relapse) complained about was addressed and changed.
People bitched about his accents, so he dumped those. ( not a bad thing ) People bitched and wanted him to yell and be emotional, so again.. he changed himself to accommodate those critics. People also bithced and cried about his content, about how no one wanted to hear about serial killers, but rather about his life (which hes already done a hundred fucking times before, we know his whole story 3 times over)
So now with recovery, we have his most generic, unoriginal, plain, cookie cut album. There is nothing creative or unique about it. That sucks for me and people like me because thats why i liked him so much to begin with. He was ALWAYS different, he would go the extra miles JUST so he wouldn't sound like everyone else. THATS what worked for him so much in the past.
He's lost that spark, and now hes even using metaphors in a smiliar way that lil wayne and every other rapper out there does. In the past, hes done everything possible to stand out and be different, and now it seems as if hes doing everything he can to FIT IN and be accepted.
Why would anyone want to change their process/formula/style that has worked so well for them in the past?
In my opinion, recovery is a great album, better than just about everything coming out now a days.... but still, I've lost respect because of him changing EVERYTHING to accommodate these 12 year old children who dont know a damn thing about good music.
In my OPINION relapse is MUCH better than recovery.
It's called evolving as an artist. Expanding your horizons. And I almost guarantee his next album will be different, Eminem has ALWAYS changed his style with every album, that's what's so good about him, he'll never make the same album twice
There's NOTHING wrong with Recovery. Call it generic, call it whatever the fuck you want, but it's a great album and I don't understand why the fuck you'd like it at first, then grow to hate it. It sounds to me like you're just hopping on the Recovery-hate bandwagon. I've always loved Relapse, and that hasn't changed at all, whereas others - who originally hated it - now love it. I loved Recovery, too, from first listen and my thoughts have not changed about it
You obviously didn't read my post, or you're just too ignorant to understand it. I already told you the reasons why i liked it first, and why my opinion changed.

YES, hes always changed his style, and it was always different than everyone else. Now his style is exactly like everyone else.
But its not about changing his style, Its about his motives/reasons for changing his style, he did this to ACCOMMODATE the critics and people who complained. THATS why ive lost respect.
and you're right. There is nothing wrong with recovery. But its just no where near the creativity and originality of all the previous albums before it, minus encore.
You seem awfully aggressive towards me JUST for speaking my opinion.
OH and for future reference, you may want to actually read my post, or learn to pay attention. Or learn to read. Whichever is your problem

LOL, I know how to read, no need to get so defensive. In fact, I probably read more than you do. I'll admit, I skimmed over your post, but read most of it. And I wasn't aggressive at all, this is the internet (so you can't truly tell emotion) and I was simply debating your opinion on the matter
How do you know that's the exact reason why he made Recovery? If Cocaine was any indication of Relapse 2 (and it was, because he uses the accent at the very end of his second verse), it sounds to me like he changed his style on his own accord. He didn't pay attention to critics at all, he's never given a fuck about critics and I don't see why he would start now. He's never publicly stated that the fans are the reason why he changed styles. He may have felt that Relapse's content was bullshit (which it is, but I'm not hating, like I said before, I loved Relapse and still do) all on his own, we'll never know what really goes through his head. But you can't state an artist's intention when you really don't know their true intentions. Maybe if you get to meet him one day, you can ask him
And for the record, I only answered to the bold part when I first replied. So that's what my post was ABOUT. It's not that I didn't read your post at all like you think I didn't (I did skim it, like I stated earlier).
Next time, don't get so mad when someone doesn't agree with you. You're a pretty smart guy, but you seem to get really mad a lot when people go against you. And I didn't even do it out of hate, or malice, I did it to spark up some conversation and you just completely took it the wrong way
