Can rappers technically improve their skills anymore?

Postby FreeSpeech » Jan 26th, '11, 09:22

I feel like rap's technical skills have been perfected. Early rappers had that very basic "my name is blablabla and I'm here to say" style. However, present rappers have insane flows, multis, rhyme schemes, etc. I don't see how anyone can improve on the technicalities of rap. Lyrics and beats and production will always improve/be innovative, but I don't see technical rap skills in 2030 being any different than they are today.

*Obviously rappers like Soulja can improve, I'm talking about the most skilled rappers.

I would say no, because as an act to stand out from others, certain rappers have taken up different aspects of the craft and each has pretty much respectively mastered them.

There are rappers with perfect flows and delivery, there are rappers with insane amounts of multis, and there are rappers that can spit impressive word play off the top of their head.

The only thing that could possibly happen now is the bar being set higher. As in, there are more rappers in the game running around with that kind of mastery, and hopefully being more prominent than just the "underground"

People can only improve so far.
It would depend on what you think is good.

Fast rapping or slow with quad multis or swag swag swag.
At the end of the day, rap in general has evolved and continues to expand itself into a more bigger and better concept of self expression.
