There's always been shit in Hip-Hop, back to MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice. There's no ONE song that started the decline in Hip-Hop because there is no decline.

Exactly, hiphop has never been dead. I think people just try to be cool by saying it is. J Cole, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi, Kanye, etc.

The decline began in the "club banger only" era around '06 but since '09 Hip-Hop has been steadily rising with all these dope new guys and Eminem's comeback.

It's funny people are saying Hammer/Ice is wack then naming off their modern day forms as "hope for hip hop".

Hip hop didn't die it just moved underground.

Even the mainstream is looking up right now, the last few years have been terrible though for the mainstream.

How about J cole? I'll be honest though I don't stay tuned to the radio as much as I did a few years ago, so I don't hear every shit song that comes out. But B.O.B., Wiz Khalifa, etc aren't good or at least decent?

J Cole really isn't mainstream though. He hasn't quite shattered the barrier like BOB did. I'm really losing faith in him though. I listened to Cost Me A Lot on his last mixtape and he ruined a great sample with Young Money punchlines.

Fuck Wiz. He's Wayne in a different body.

There was a lot really. Nelly and Ja Rule kinda gave people a road to go, getting a lot of money from R'n'B rap, but i honeslty prefair that to the Young Money, Soulja Boy n Gucci stuff. I guess a lot of stuff developed over time, i couldnt necessarily just blame it on a song or an album.

J. Coles beats are good, i would never class him as a mainstream artist, i like his style and his lyricism. He's better than a lot of the artists now who try to hard to be famous. Like Wiz for example.

Doesn't matter what killed or caused a decline in hip-hop. All that matters is that it is really looking up. With all these dope young artists out there right now (besides Wiz, he fuckin blows :n: ) we have a great road ahead of us.

Actually will smith made that popular in the 90s before anyone was doing it. Alot of what became popular was copied from will smith.

Btw: will smith is dope.

Puff Daddy and The Family - No Way Out

Everything changed after that album was released
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

P. Diddy, Dr. Dre & Master P had a lot to do with the commercialization of Hip Hop.
