Eminem Rhymes People May Not Have Picked Up

The most convenient definition of rhyme is if two things sound the same, syllable for syllable, and they're not the same thing (so matter doesn't rhyme with matter). There is no other workable definition.

If you have a ridiculously narrow definition like "the words are the same except the first letter (cat, hat, bat, rat)" then spat isn't a rhyme with cat. Retarded.

So if we're going by two things rhyming if they sound the same, then "screaming go" definitely rhymes with "teen-year-old," given Eminem's Detroit accent. When he says it in Who Knew, those two things have very similar sounds. They rhyme, and it's very clear that he meant for them to rhyme. His enunciation to make them rhyme wasn't forced at all.

He also meant to rhyme "tackle" with "handled" in GTC.

And inverse multis, when used well, can give the line a nice symmetry and it sounds really pleasant to listen to, poetically speaking. I couldn't quite put my finger on why S4TM's second verse ("from standing on corners and porches") sounded so smooth, but it's because of all those rhyme patterns.

Do you all seriously not hear these rhymes the first time you listen? I honestly catch every multi and internal he uses, I just hear it. I didn't realize it took skill to hear rhyming words. Sometimes I won't catch punchlines or wordplay, but I never miss rhymes...

I'm not trying to sound cool, it's not an impressive skill. How do you not hear rhyming words? If they rhyme, they rhyme. You shouldn't have to pay attention and look out for rhymes.

Come on guys, don't act stupid..you must know by now that rappers say things differently to make things rhyme ALL THE TIME! It's no different with Em, except he does it better than anyone else.

Plus, Em's in-rhymes are raw! Makes me appreciate the rhymes more because it shows how much thought he's put into them. Sometimes they're really hard to spot. Just goes to show, he really does write rhymes for himself, up to his standards, and no one else.

"Hope to dream" and "roses bring" don't rhyme...BUT if you pronounce them correctly, they do, and it turns out to be a well written rhyme.

If you're going to say that "screaming go/teen year old" don't rhyme, then you should take a look at "hope to dream/roses bring", also.

Honestly, I never understood why people like songs about rape and serial murders... I mean, it's fiction, obviously, but why would you make a song about that? And why would you listen to it?

So why do authors write crime and murder mysteries? Because it's fascinating and hugely engaging - it's a hugely interesting subject, hence why there is sooooo much work about it.

Saying "why would you listen to it", is like saying why would anyone read Edgar Ellan Poe because he writes about murders. If it's done in an engaging and interesting way, why shouldn't people read it?
