No but they're what most artists aim for - It obviously doesn't determine quality but it's still important

It's not like he would/could release songs like I'm Back or Stay Wide Awake as singles.

2 - Lose Yourself and Sing For The Moment, possibly 3 with Not Afraid
I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

---------------REMEMBER---------------
1. The Hot100 (singles chart) in the US, is based on a combination of AIRPLAY and SALES.
2. During Em's peak period (1999-2004), single sales was close to non-existant, and thus, you had to gain good airplay to achieve big hits... and as you probably know, Em was pretty controversial (radios didn't really support him, yet he was enormously popular among many), and to an extent, you could say that rap in general didn't have thay many big hits during that time-period (at least compared to now). This is also the reason why Em's singles peaked higher internationally, compared to the states.

"Sales/Chart means everything"... No. But it definetely means something. I do agree that during the period 1995-2005, the Hot100, really wasn't - in most cases - reflecting what was popular in the US.

This.

I wonder what about the UK charts, when it's sales only. Heck, even Like Toy Soldiers got to #1 in the UK!! I'd find it really difficult to imagine what it'd be like to live in a country where Like Toy Soliders in the most popular song. I dunno why, it's just a strange thought for some reason...

But yes, the US including airplay in their official charts is just so stupid, imo.

I'm Back was supposed to be MMLP's lead single until the label wanted another "My Name Is" type single.

Would say from One Mic's listing, apart from the two he mentioned, Cleaning Out The Closet maybe boderline, only cos i never bothered compiling a list

I'm Back was actually his attempt at another "My Name Is" type single lol. I could honestly imagine it as that too. But then they heard the verse where he speaks on Columbine and all that shit was censored and...yeah. lol.

So he wrote The Real Slim Shady and recorded it an hour or so before the final recordings were due for mastering. I forgot where I read this, but the fact that he can write THAT in less than an hour is fucking crazy.

It's not like he would/could release songs like I'm Back or Stay Wide Awake as singles.

As far as I know it doesn't seem like he cared what his individual singles were as long as the first single was successful. That's why Relapse had "We Made You" and then for a 2nd single we get shit like "3 AM".

I think, after the initial album release, he just picks songs as singles for music videos that he'd like to see himself, or songs that he wants to get public attention. That's why we get Stan as a single, or Way I Am, or Sing For The Moment or Guilty Conscience. My Fault also has an unreleased music video.

You're wasting your time i think, some people are just way too brainwashed and idiotic to accept that music can be good if it doesn't hit the top ten.
