These days I enjoy listening to Del the funky homosapien's debut album (I wish my brother george was here). Catchy production and entertaining/funny lyrics. He has what a lot of rappers lack: A sense of humour. A little racist at times but whatever.

Deltron 3030 is the shit, when's Deltron 2 coming out?

Hiphopdane wrote:http://rap.about.com/od/toppicks/ss/Top50Emcees.htm

I often just pick a random artist from this top 50 and download their best album/the album the journalist recommend.

I really liked that list and I like how he mentioned O.C. as one of the most underrated mcs of all time which is true, and mentioned Aceyalone who is also underrated. Prodigy's spot was appropriate, even though he's one of my favorite rappers ever, I'm not stupid enough to admit that he's top 10 material in terms of skillwise. It asl noted Big L as overrated which I tend to agree with. Seeing Lord Finesse and Del tha Funkee Homosapien pretty high on that list also made my day.

As far as Jay z is concerned, yes he's overrated but, I feel he's a better lyricist at his prime than Eminem. Eminem's better at multies and a more talented rhymer, but Jay z has some sick metaphors and double entendres instead off relying on rhyme schemes.

As far as Renegade is concerned.

One it's an Eminem beat and fits his rhyme scheme more comfortably, which is why Em was more fluid on that beat, whereas Jay had a hard time staying on beat, and was forcing multies (A style he usually doesn't have)

Two Jay's verses were actually really damn good, and underrated. I feel that if Nas hadn't said Eminem murdered you on your own shit, people would stop acting like Jay dropped wack verses.

Three since when did murdering someone on a guest appearance automatically equals better emcee, I guess R.A. the Rugged Man is better than Vinnie Paz for murdering him on Uncommon Valor, or Big Pun is automataically a better emcee than Black Thought for murdering him on Super Lyrical, I mean it happens all the time. People should stop treating Renegade as an end all be all for saying Eminem> Jay z.

Devil'sAdvocate wrote:i really respect your opinion man,but saying Em is not a top 5 MC is a crime on its own, after you got litterally every rapper praising him, saying hes crazy and they cant fuck with him, after raising this genre to a whole new level of recognition,he is one of the sickest rappers ever, for me along with nas and rakim, these 3 are THE best artists to do good to hip hop,its quite frankly ridiculous for Em not to be in anybody's top 5.

judging from ur av i think rakim is the GOAT in yo opinion,he is for me too as i stated a couple lines before, but he is the smoothest rapper i EVER heard, his rhymes are so amazingly structred i litteraly jizz hearing him,fav album is payed in full with eric. b.

That has zilch to do with his skills, strip him of his impact, sales, influence and he's among many peers who are just as good if not outright better than him. And no it's not ridiculous for anyone to have Eminem not be in their top 5 wtf, are you thinking? Those three artists are great and I have a ton of respect for them in terms of what they did for the game, but if you remove their influence, many are on their level.

No idea. I started listening to him a month ago or something :P

Tend to agree with that. Sometimes rappers make their lyrics a little too hard to understand but Jay-Z knows how to balance it. He has the better delivery, metaphors and flows (latter is based on his prime stuff) while Eminem has the rhymes and story telling. Lyrically I prefer Eminem because his albums can get me trough all kind of different emotions but if I grew up anywhere close to the world Jay-Z raps about, I would probably choose him.

I don't feel like going into any big debate about that track but even though I think Em did better on it, I agree that one track never can be a true representation of what an emcee is capable of. I mean, people should judge them on their catalouges, not just one verse or two.

Em's Catalogue is mile stones better than jay's IMO.

Jay-Z is very talented but he is really been heading downwards for a long time.

he has 2 undeniable classics in Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint.

2 very good albums in Blueprint 2 and the black album.

the rest are very very forgettable.

Em had one Encore jay has like 4.

Em is the better lyricist, story telling and incredible rhyming.

he is far more skilled with his flows, yes jay had some amazing metaphors but so did Em,EM IS WAY MORE VERSATILE AND CREATIVE.

While Em has 2 albums that define an MC and are straight classics in SSLP & MMLP.

2 amazing in TES Relapse.

a very solid album in recovery.

and a piece of trash called Encore.

this is not taking anythin away from jay from,im a big big fan,i got like 5 albums of his memorized lol.

Well to be fair to Jay that's because he has twice as many albums as Em lol.

Em is definitely more consistent than Jay though. Even the people who say Em fell off won't deny that his plummet from his prime wasn't as big as Jay's.

BP2 is a very good album but In My Lifetime, Hard Knock Life & American Gangster aren't?

Jay's catalogue is on-par or maybe even superior to Eminem's. Encore < Any Jay-Z album.

@Satire

that plays a part bro.

but if u take jay's best 4 albums (Reasonable Doubt,BP1,BP2,Black Album)

and compare them against Em's 4 best albums (SSLP,MMLP,TES,Relapse)

i think we have a clear winner, dont we?

and i dont like bringing out that Em killed jay on renegade shit.

but Jay actualy had a chance to easily do better than Em,cuz he heard the verses before he pinned his obviously for the known fact that renegade is originally a BME track.

i presonally dont think Em fell off,the people who say he did,say so because he went down from a REALLY REALLLY high place.
