Hey Trigger guess what, this is the 21st century and no one gives a fuck about your opinion. You sound like a Kindergarten teacher telling little Johnny to be nice because everyone's opinion is right.
You think your personal attacks make up for what you lack?

Looking back on it, this thread was amazing. We're not even talking about Immortal Technique anymore. Shit like this is why we need an archive

When ever people ask me in real life "who is the best rapper of all time" I always say the same thing - "I don't know, but my favourite is Eminem"

I think objectively he is up there in the top 20 greatest rappers of all time anyway, but it's not my place to say who is the definite #1, because the main reason for this......that person doesn't exist. No one is #1, as it's literally impossible to judge. It's not like a sport where you can objectively say who is the best. Music is so subjective.

"One man's heaven, is another man's hell"

Sorry for anyone who doesn't like Football ('Soccer' to Americans), but the Fifa World Cup is the most prestigious international football tournament right, and I can safely say that Brazil are the #1 greatest international football team of all time.

Why?

They have won the World Cup the most times - 5
They are the only team to have played in every single World Cup - 19

^ No one can fuck with that.

See, I have objective evidence. Clear facts that can't be denied. You can't do this with music. Even if you are thinking of sales, no. Sales do not reflect the quality of music, and never have done.

:y:

I feel the same way about "who number 1 is". Because I simply don't know, but Em is my favorite

I pretty much agree with One Mic. Hip Hop is too young to have a GOAT. This music genre hasn't been around long enough to have one. When people list their top ten emcees, it's based on preference. Not on undeniable numbers backing that argument up. Why? Because music isn't a battle. Music is what feelings sound like, music is poetry with a rhythm. Sales aren't ''numbers'', awards aren't ''numbers'', and how many times you've covered XXL isn't a ''number''. Those things have nothing to do with your quality as an emcee.

It's the same as asking;

What is the greatest film of all time?
What is the greatest TV Show of all time?
Who is the funniest comedian of all time?
Who is the greatest actor of all time?
Who is the sexiest woman of all time?

^ There is no 100% definite answer to any of those questions either.

Every answer you give will be based on your own personal taste, as every human is unique.

You give me an answer to any of those questions, and I guarantee there are billions of people in the world who would disagree.

^Exaclty. Taste differs, that's what makes us unique in the first place. If everybody would agree, then there would be no variety.

There has to be criteria met though, you can't just slap on a few punchlines with aimless songs, and shoddy beats and call it a great album. To those ignorant towards actual quality albums, it would seem amazing, to those who have experience they'd be able to tell that the album's shit.

I do agree though that Hip Hop is still too young to have a best emcee yet.

mcZu wrote:Eminem fell off, end of it. If you disagree? Then so be it. The only thing Eminem was good at, was multies, even that isn't nowhere near it was.

There are numerous rappers that outshine Eminem, in almost all aspects. But you guys will still say ''Eminem has this certain mystique, he strings words together like no one ever does'' bla bla bla. If the majority of you guys were really open-minded, and not so much in Eminem's ass, you guys would appreciate music more in general.

Take this how you want to take it, if you take heat to this, then take heed to this: this is the internet, get used to it.

Yes, I'm mad.

You honestly think he was ever only good at rhyming? What the fuck. Surely it takes some lyrical skills to stay relevant for more than 10 years. At least something more than just making words sound alike.

Sorry, you're usually quite a good poster but accusing others of being close-minded while saying Eminem only is/was good at multis is a bit of a contradiction.

I agree he has fallen off but that doens't mean he doesn't release good music. I can enjoy his new music even if it isn't as good as his prime stuff. Most rappers/artists who keep going fall off eventually, some more than others of course.

His only real forte was multies, yes. If it wasn't for his multies, he wouldn't be as praised as he was/is. Sure, his content was good, too. But it was his multies that made him earn a spot next to the emcees of Jay-Z, Nas, and Rakim's stature.
