There are many a reason why he deserves to near the top. And I think you could give a very good argument for him being the best.

But, see, he isn't the best rapper. There isn't such a thing as the best rapper, nor will there ever be one that can claim that title. Perhaps there will be an emcee that will come close to that title, but never will there be an emcee that can call himself/herself the best.

He was near that description, though. But, right now, he isn't nowhere near the best. His current state, isn't near the best.

EDIT: Lol, yeah. And you shouldn't apoligize, you didn't do anything wrong. And I meant now, indeed.

Nowhere near the best? That's a ballsy statement.

Yes, they can, as in, they can do actually call themselves that. But, they can't back it up, because there is no perfect emcee. I can call myself the best football player ever, but that wouldn't be the same as, say, Messi calling himself the best.

Of course, it is my opinion, based on the fact that he doesn't make such good music as he used to. But, I can give you 10 emcees, that are better than him now. Of course, people can say that they don't like them, but whatever. I trully believe Eminem isn't near the best right now.

I don't disagree with you, but can you name those 10 (just out of interest)

Right now, Lowkey, Nas, Black Thought, Talib Kweli, Copywrite, Hopsin and Diabolic are all better than Eminem.

I'm basing that of artists who released albums/substational amount of songs in 2010 (or in Kweli's case 10 and 11). Looking at the year ahead I think more artists could be added to that list. Also depends on whether Em steps his game up or not.

In terms of technical skill, I'd say that's true. I'm not one of those "THIS RAPPER HAS MORE MULTIS" kind of guy, but there are people who just straight up have better altogether rhyming/flow/delivery/emotion in their music (Tech N9ne being one of them). Through 1999-2003 though I'd say he was pretty close to being, if not was, the perfect MC.

Em is definitely the best rapper in the mainstream still though, and still one of the best songwriters.

I think working with Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf, as well as some other artists like 50 and Tech, will put Em back on the right track. His work with Royce was pretty good

If we're judging by the lyrics on his recent collabs/leaks, I'd say you're right, he really isn't near the best. But, Relapse was outstanding when it comes to lyrics. Recovery was sligthly below Relapse because of the many different types of beats. Maybe he isn't making good music right now, but his talent and skill are still here. We can judge after he jumps on a few of his own beats.

Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Lowkey, Joe Budden, Black Thought, Talib Kweli, Copywrite, Akala, Diabolic, and Crooked I.

These artists are currently better than Eminem.

I hope it will, I hope it will.

If we're going to continue comparing Em to other artists can we please change the title, move it to the Em section and get a 'discussion' going again? :flutter:

I can do that if the others agree. And I'll try deleting the "troll" posts instead of locking it.

I hope him rapping on his own beats will produce some good music.

Well, this thread wasn't really all trolling, it's just an argument that went on way too long and was going virtually nowhere

The Class vs. Opinion argument was pointless because that never ends, but the EvanInsider vs. Dead Stillmatic argument was actually entertaining and genuine. Should've waited until someone conceded before locking that tbh.
