I've spoke plenty of times on this song, but Nas' verse is probably verse of 2010. Just amazing.

His rhyming is pretty simplistic but the word choice is outstanding, every single word is crafted to perfection, and it's structured so well.

The assonance and consonance make the verse flow like the river and makes it so easy to listen to and 'sound' beautiful.

After the first time I heard this song, I said to my cousin who was with me that this song will be one of Nas' most played songs in 50 years time, even more than half of Illmatic.

It's one of those songs that will be appreciated more and more as each year passes.

It's one of my all time favourite Nas songs, probably top 5, and that's saying something.

The Amadou & Mariam sample is so perfect here, and if anyone is allowed to sample them it's Jnr. Gong and Nas. They pretty much did what Eminem did to the Stan hook, he got such a positive and nice hook and turned it into a haunting and deep hook, and in turn into a masterpiece. Only people like Nas and Eminem can do that. Gotta say, I love that just like Stan, Amadou & Mariam recorded their hook again for Nas and Marley here in the studio with them, that's history, if only you could be a fly on the wall for that session.

The message in this song escapes some people and gets too high on other people, what with Hip Hop's obsession these days with secret societies, the Illuminati and what not, but this song isn't about that in full, it's more about the world and the path we're heading, and not just about what we (blacks) are facing, but what we as humans are facing.

:y:

I like how neither Nas or Damian take any particular stance, just question thing and leave it open to the listener for interpretation.

Probably my favourite song of the past 5 years or so. I remember I held out listening to this album until the actual CD was released - got chills when that sample kicked in then to end it on Nas' verse. Amazing stuff. Makes you realize why you love hip-hop when you hear shit like that.

I'm interested to see where they'll go with the music video. Could be something epic.

I'd probably say it's my favourite song from the last 5 years or so. Can't think of anything that beats it.

I gotta say, we all love Nas and he will always get the credit with real hip hop fans that he deserves.

But Damian Marley!!!! Little homie went in! It still amazes me how one family could have so many talented people.

This song is a masterpiece, it's what music should be about, this is music personified.

The best line in the song for me is when Nas says;

"what's hue? what's man? what's human"?

I'm not sure how many people understood it, but for the people that did, even if you've never heard of Nas' music, that one line alone could make you appreciate his music.

This is why I'll keep saying that Nas is one of the most consistent emcees out there. Impeccable verse. Distant Relatives is one of the best albums of '10. Especially because it grows on you, the whole project just grows on you with each listen.

And, happy birthday Bob Marley, if I'm not too late.

Has to be said though that this is most likely an independently financed video.

They were in the motherland recently and that's where they most likely made the video, without the aid of Def Jam.

I hope this gets some decent airplay, I still see Angie playing "Strong will continue" sometimes on hot97, but never heard 'Patience'.

Seeing as your from Jordan, and I'm assuming you're Muslim, can I ask why homie ?

I personally can't think of many instances when they mention the Quran, and the ones I can, I don't think I know why it would be annoy anyone.

Lyrically great, but...his delivery was a bit dull to me

Lol, I've never been much of a fan of Nas' delivery. He's a spectacular lyricist, one of the best, but...like I said, not a fan of the delivery
