DETOX will flop

Postby shadyboymez » Feb 10th, '11, 10:05

I have been hearing about Detox since about 10th grade, which was 2003. For an album to have an 8 year build up is bad enough, but when the songs that finally come out from the album are Kush and I Need A Doctor, I think it's safe to say that this album will not be the masterpiece that it was once hailed to be.

I Need A Doctor ? Couldn't Dre have come up with anything better than this? Talking about how Eminem needs Dre, that is way too lame. Clearly Eminem doesn't need Dre, hence the fact that Dre produced pretty much nothing on Recovery. I just can't believe this is what they have to offer after so much time. And Dre didn't even produce these songs....wtf was the hold up ?

can't judge from the two average singles tho ,will have to wait and watch ,8-9 years are way toooo long to make like 30 songs for the album .
Shit will be dope . :smoking:

I don't think it will flop, but I don't think it will come anywhere close to Recovery numbers though. There was hype behind it for so long, Dre just happens to start making moves for it on the year that the buzz is starting to die down.

I'd say 600k copies at most, atleast 450k.

No doubt it won't live up to a 12 year haitus, I think it will be a good record though. Good, not great, definitely shit compared to his first 2 though.

Doubt it'll flop, but won't live up to expectations either.
Gotta admit I always thought all the tracks would be self-produced

I kinda just wanna hear something that Dre produced, lol. It does worry me a little that the first 2 singles haven't been Dre productions. Can't he make a classic beat anymore? I hope he can.

Em doesn't need Dre?

From the sounds of it, Em still turns to Dre to decide whether what he's just recorded is dope. We constantly hear 'in the studio with Dre'. Dre is the person that got him there, that gave him the confidence and guidance to be the artist he was, and only a pinch of that was production.
My Top 5 (in no order)-

Eminem
Big l
Biggie Smalls
Royce Da 5'9"
Jigga

I don't think it will flop, but Dre has put it off way too long and that will hurt it for sure. The prduction has me worried, I'll be pissed if it's like Recovery and has a bunch of different producers, I just don't get why Dre would go that way. I do like Kush, nothing groundbreaking but it bumps. INAD, I like the concept but don't like the beat. I do know Detox won't have shit on The Chronic or 2001.

It may or may not flop, who knows? Since it's been so long, maybe people just don't give a shit anymore. Kush and I Need A Doctor are good in my opinion, so I dunno

If the next Detox song isn't prod by Dre, then imma give fuck about Detox
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

If i was Dre i would put song he recorded years a go on Detox.Everyone seems to want all these different producers on their albums these days(some aren't even that good).Dre should know his fanbase just wants a classic album with Dre beats. That's what he's known for you know?
I doubt it will flop tho, probably will do good numbers(400k+/1st week) but i doubt it will reach Recovery status for some reason.Depends on who ends up on the final version.

who honestly cares how much it sells? It could sell 5 copies for all I care. As long as there is good music on it who gives a fuck? He doesn't need the money and he certainly doesn't need new teenage girl fans.

"Lyke, oh my gawd Ashley, I just bought this CD, Detox, and it's uh-mazing"

"Lyke, really?"

"Lyke, really. I already can't wait for Dr. Dre's next CD"

well by flop, i mean it isn't going to have good music on it...i'm not really referring to sales as much as the content

i expected, along with a lot of other people, for Detox to be the "rap album of the century". Chronic 2001 was a classic, and the way he put so many delays and so many years into this album i thought that it would be unlike anything else out there. Some real mind-blowing shit.

Well, 2 singles in and i'm losing hope of that. He needs to produce the whole album ...this is Dr. Dre we're talking!
