Lowkey - Fire in the Booth (1XTRA)

Postby EminemBase » Feb 22nd, '11, 01:18

Now THIS is what you calling spitting...

LMFAO at anyone on Earth saying people like Jay-Z or Wayne are even close to best ALIVE never mind best ever. Consider what they do and how fucking basic it is compared to that.

Absurd.

When you look at a lot of Grime MCs etc, it really is beyond words how much credit the majority of US rappers get. Most are so basic in comparison it's almost embarrassing.

PS. Anyone who watches it, stick with it. You may think it's good, but it gets insane.

^ He's not even top 5.

If we're just talking US rappers - Em, Mos Def, Andre 3k etc. - so many which eclipse him.

Look at it from my POV
VIP like G O D
Delivery it to my table like C O D
Saying fuck you to the world; cee lo green

:smoking:

Lowkey is my favorite rapper from the UK and in my top 10 lyricists but he sounds pretty monotonous in this and his Chipmunk diss

Edit: I listened to it for more than 4 minutes. It gets better actually. Lowkey is great.

I've seen it before, Lowkey is sick, but in before the inevitable "not feeling the UK accent" comments.

Because USA rule the world, the majority of Americans tend to only be aware of what is happening in their own country, and they are ONLY exposed to their tv shows, films, music, etc. They are clueless about world events, different cultures etc and are just not used to hearing rap music from other countries, especially Britain, where they have this ridiculous stereotypical idea of all British people speak like the Queen and are posh. When in fact, only a small percentage of people talk like that.

The attitude to UK rappers today, is similiar to the attitude to white rappers back in the day; people didn't take them seriously, and basically didn't want to know.

Give it time, things will progress....

Yes he is at times I even prefer him over Nas. I hate to leave off with an it's all opinion, because that's usually a cop out argument and I don't really like that, but most of consided those in my top 10 are hardly considered top 10 worthy material.

@One Mic - That's a poor excuse and simply not true...

I was only exposed to limited US things myself. I mean yes we have imported US shows and get US music but... To say the US have not been exposed to Britain is not true.

Who shaped much of rock and roll (and pop etc.)? (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bowie - All British) - Who shaped much of comedy? (Monty Python - probably the single-most biggest comedy influencer's of our time. Would be no South Park without it, The Simpsons also cite it, as well as comedies like Arrested Development and a good number of credible comedians working today even). Britain have been responsible for shaping huge proportions of American's view of comedy and music, they've had decades of British culture bled into them.

So this is a myth that they're unaware. It's ignorance, and what appears to be a fucking idiot-gene lmao. Inability to grasp outside of 'self'. I mean I've had The Simpsons, Eminem, movies - But, I'm still Welsh, I've grown up in Britain and yet I know the names of specific places within certain burrows of New York, I know regional accents.

And it's not just me.

It's definitely due to the size of America and of course, the perception all Americans are like it is not true but having known a good number of Americans online over the years, intelligent adults also - they even go out of their way to say to me it is true lmao. They say most Americans don't know what countries are in Britain, where or what Wales is etc.

So, I think there's more truth than generalization to it.

I like how you're trying to slight Americans and speak for us as if we're all like that. Specifically the "They are clueless about world events, different cultures"

Nothing but personal anecdotes which will fine is never good to try and prove a point with, it's about as dumb me saying I've talked to a few Brits and they've all said they have bad teeth, does that mean that most of them do? Of course not.

Stereotypes are fine and there is some truth to them of course we shouldn't try and use that else (most Mexicans eat Tacos, Black People are good at sports/music, Chinese people can't drive). Ever heard Correlation does not
imply Causation? Sorry if it's seems like I'm patronizing you.

As for the rest of your post, it's cool that your cultured but don't try and lump us to be nothing but uncultured and closeminded fools.

You totally misread and missed the point of me including that anecdote.

It makes me cringe that you think I was trying to prove Americans were dumb from that anecdote.

It was simply an inclusion for slight comedic purposes. Hence putting 'lmao' after it. I was laughing at the fact that even Americans don't deny it, but again - That's not a definitive statement, it was a purposely comedic anecdote, not a reasoning point to prove my case.

And I'll also tell you what is not a good technique in debate, SELECTIVE bias. I see you convieniently missed the bit where I said it's definitely due to the size of America and of course, the perception all Americans are like it is not true. So that's the clue right there. Why do you think I said that PRE anecdote? THAT line was the reasoning point, I acknowledge the absurdity in such a broadsheet view as a factual forthright and then I tell an anecdote as a personal input, nothing else.

I then summarize by saying I think there's more truth than generalization to it. Which is a personal opinion based on experience and analysis, not a claim of fact I am putting forward. Hence "I think". Some of my biggest heroes are American, in so many fields. Do you think I would admire and adhere to so many if I believed America = hopeless piggishness. I am talking about the general population, of which it's probably true in MOST of Western civilization that they are mis-educated and badly informed. Due to class divide, wealth struggle and unfair starts in life and of course, depending the environment and culture - it varies. And I think due to the size of America, like I said, the lower end is probably a lot lower and thus more mis-education is apparent to the rest of us, thus the perception.

So, live by your own apparent stipulation and read, reason, think and do not assume. Thanks.

LOL I know, but I'm a stubborn cunt and I don't like to be out-trolled, so I counter-trolled with that response as it was the best thing I could think of at the time, and your post actually made me LOL.

Anyway I don't wanna ruin EminemBase's topic any further, so...

Some of the lyrics in the video that you posted, Lowkey also used them for THIS, and his voice sounds better on that IMO. Have you seen it?
