I don't include Ice Cube here, because musically whilst he has grown, he has stayed true to his roots.

Snoop Dogg I can't blame either, I mean it's easy to see the path he's taken, but he's still an OG. Plus I blame his change on No Limit. The Death Row situation almost destroyed Snoop, and he was forced down a path he would NEVER have taken if things were normal. Hip Hop lost out big time when this happened, cause whilst Snoop continues to deliver great songs every album, we've missed out on great albums.

Black Eyed Peas are the definition of sellouts. These motherfuckers were dope, they were signed by Eazy E and their music was crazy mellow, their first two albums were chill. Then they got Fergie.

The second name that comes to mind, but on such a smaller extent to BEP is Jay-Z. He exemplifies many characteristics of a sellout in music to me. His music is still very good, but in terms of style, he completely flipped his and has admitted it.

Snoop Dogg #1 for doing a song with fucking Big Time Rush :facepalm

Luda is still a boss.

But, another rapper that sold out is Eminem.

True, but I just can't hate Luda for it, I facepalm him for it but I still look at him the same. Tbh, if Eminem did a song with Biebs I would facepalm to a bigger extent but I'd still be a fan and would still look at him the same.

Luda made a mistake with Battle of the Sexes but Theater of the Mind was a great album. And it's not like Ludacris had anything to sell out too, it's not like he was some big hip-hop legend. He's always been that dude that just had a great delivery, great flow, average lyrics, and catchy hooks and beats. Nothing has changed.

Mobb Deep had debts in the hundreds of thousands (each). And it wasn't because of nonsense overspending or anything like that, they were persuaded into signing a contract when they were teenagers they fully didn't understand, and Steve Rifkind and SRC Records practically stole from them something like 70% of everything they generated not only from records but tours. Prodigy's home was foreclosed by the IRS.

Signing with G-Unit allowed for them to get a life back, and Blood Money was still a dope album. Compared to the horror show of Amerikaz Nightmare it's practically a classic. It was a return to form and gave them access to some things they were unable to get before, even with their legend status - such as a Dr.Dre track. Plus 50 Cent not only cleared their debts for them, but allowed for them to be safe for life.

True they were only 19 when they release The Infamous. I'm not mad at them personally, and don't really care who they sign with as long as they still can produce quality music. Such a shame P fell off, though Hav still got it, somewhat. Fwiw I'm still going to check out any music they make once P's release and buy his book. (I'm a stan)

If Eminem sold out, why did MMLP sell more than double Recovery first week?

Sold out = doing something just to get money. Which you could say Em has done because he did a song with Rihanna. True, he put her on there to get sales but it's not like the song is any different than an Eminem song would be.

Dre, I Need A Doctor is a pathetic attempt at hopping on the Recovery bandwagon, and aside from the opening montage and closing scene, the video is nothing more than an advertising campaign

Also, the fact that he's paying for such an inferior producer to make beats for him is ridiculous, especially after all the push-backs Detox has had

Snoop Dogg comes to my mind whenever rapper & sellout are mentioned in the same sentence. Dude wasn't even that bad a couple years ago Blue Carpet Treatment was dope, then this dude starts putting his name on everything, doing songs with fucking pop artist after pop artist & even his own shit has gotten poppy, using autotune on songs wtf. Some of his new shit is still pretty dope though I liked World Of A Gangsta & Protocol off of Malice In Wonderland.
50 Cent & Jay Z also come to mind, but I was never a huge fan of either & they're making smart decisions business wise so I could give a fuck less.
Now for the definition of a sell out just look up Flava Flav, dude went from being in Public Enemy to having a shitty reality show and is now known for being a retard with a viking helmet & a giant clock.

Jay-Z would be my choice. Obviously there is a lot of sell outs but I choose him because I'm usually one of his biggest fans and therefore is quite disappointed to hear him "write" raps that pretty much every average rapper can do. Wake up!

Agree with this one. He is one of my all time favourite producers but I'm not looking forward to Detox that much anymore. I have a feeling INAD is going to be the "Beautiful" of the album in terms of not fitting musically at all. Tracks such as Kush and INAD should never be on the same album!

Produce your own music, Dre.

Wow, one little thing and Em's a sellout? Some of you are no better than the fuckin morons saying Em doing those Brisk commercials are sellouts.. Those are the same faggots that are going to call him a sellout for doing more movies.

LTWYL was just smart thinking, Em has done nothing serious to be referred to as a sellout

The Black Eyed Peas are the definition of sellouts and 50 as well but he's made it public that all he wants is more money lol
