He wasn't saying black rappers don't sell, he was saying that one of the reasons Eminem sells as much as he does was because he was white and that's true. Eminem acknowledges it himself he made a entire fuckin song about it or haven't you heard White America yet? Eminem first got his attention as that "white boy Dre signed that spits sick shit" and made his legacy from there. Being a dope white rapper isn't big today but in 98 it was another story. Being white was part of Eminems image that helped him sell just like getting shot was part of 50 Cents image or Thug Life was part of Tupacs.

No, shall I tell you why Eminem sells as much as he does? Because he makes albums like The Marshall Mathers LP. Because he writes ground-breaking stuff that grabs a generation and splits congress in half. Because he puts 100 more hours in than the 2nd best. THAT is why.

Because as much as people use the white shit, I've never heard a good explanation as to why that would make a difference. That implies what that... young white kids are going to go "WOW! WHITE SKIN, MOMMY BUY IT BUY IT!"

Eminem is gigantic because of his TALENT. And in fact, if ANYTHING, being black would of removed much of the stigma for many black fans, AND many initial jealous / doubting white people. People are buying his MUSIC, not his fucking skin colour.

Sure initially - the fact he's white in a largely black genre would of got him ATTENTION. But make no mistake, attention is just that. Attention. And attention alone doesn't sell you 80 million records. His talent has done that. But again, most of all it was still his MUSIC that got the attention. His music made people look / his skin made people stare. But his music, sold the CDs. End of.

Makes absolutely no sense. Nobody is buying music based on the artist's fucking colour. What's the excuse for MJ then? 750 million records? Talent sells.
