Because he never wants any of his songs to sound too similar, with the same flow.

He is gifted and creative enough to experiment with different flows, styles and themes. Probably one of the reasons he has had fans for 12 years+ who have never got bored of him, because he switches it up every so often, unlike a lot of other rappers who stick with the same style their entire career.

When Relapse came out, he was "doing his thing", and the response was luke-warm from the general public. So, this Recovery-Eminem was created in the wake of that.

Eminem's thought process is as follows:

Q: People didn't like the accent for some reason. What was the problem? What do I need to change for them to like me again? What is my most popular work?
A: The Marshall Mathers LP

Q: What did I do on that album?
A; Scream a lot, I think. I don't know, it was like 10 years ago and the drugs wiped 45% of my brain. In any case, people say the screaming on Kim is wack, so I'll just shout/yell.

Q: But 10 years ago is a long time, so I need to update my style. What's popular now?
A:Oh, Lil Wayne. He does similes every line and shit. That shit must be cool I suppose, he sells. I want to sell because I guess that means I'll be cool again. So what I need to do is cram these punchlines into every song like they're plugging a hole in my rowboat and I'm stranded at sea.

Agreed on everything. Except I think the yelling he does on Recovery comes from him listening to TES
(White America/'Till I Collapse/Cleanin' Out My Closet/Soldier).
I think (and this is a frightening thought), that Eminem doesn't think much of SSLP/MMLP. I think he thinks they are immature, hence him saying in Relapse interviews "I might have immatured and gone back to my first two albums." And he thinks TES/Encore (the serious Encore songs) are more mature.

No he actually said in a careful what you wish for that his first two albums were classics.
