ShadyNarkoticz wrote:I dunno if I'm alone in this but IDWCRN & Out of My Head are just terrible songs tbh. I didn't want to listen to them everytime I listened to LASERS so I took the bonus tracks, which are awesome and added them to tracklist and took out those tracks.

1. Letting Go
2. Words I Never Said
3. Till I Get There
4. The Show Goes On
5. Beautiful Lasers (2 Ways)
6. I'm Beamin'
7. Coming Up
8. State Run Radio (I REALLY could do without that chorus, though)
9. Break The Chain (not really a fan of the chorus either but better than the NSYNC chorus of SRR)
10. All Black Everything
11. Shining Down
12. Never Forget You

I think the album flows a lot better now. What you think?

I agree. IDWCRN and Out of My Head are both worse then terrible. They are the worst songs of Lupe's career.

Finished listening to it.

My ratings.

Letting go - 7.5/10: Cool track, Lupe's voice is a bit hard to understand. Hook is surprisingly good. This song a shot at Atlantic?

Words I never said - 8/10: I like this. Alex Da Kid delivers his best beat since "Airplanes". Lupe's chorus is wise, intelligent and daring.

'Til I get there - 6/10: Completely solo here and he doesn't deliver. Very bad hook.

I don't wanna care right now - 6/10 - Try hard Kanye track here and not even Kanye can pull these tracks off, let alone Lupe.

Out of my head - 4/10 - One of Lupe's worst tracks ever. This is not Lupe, this has Atlantic all over it, especially with the Trey Songz feature. Fuck you, Atlantic. Trey Songz should not be on Lupe songs. Ever.

The Show Goes On - 9/10 - Lupe should have reserved this for his real album later this year, this is a great single. Lupe definitely excels here.

Beautiful Lasers - 8.5/10 - This song had quite a big buzz before it was released, and it delivers. Very deep track, Lupe back on his grind. Hook somehow fits in too.

Coming Up - 7/10 - This is a Lupe song, but not a Lupe beat. These lyrics over a different beat that is a jazzy soulful beat and its a hit. This up-tempo beat and hook does not fit it. Lupe's lyrics are great.

State Run Radio - 9/10 - Great beat, concept, delivery, lyrics. Great song. I wonder how many notice the irony of Lupe's words in this song, he practically disses himself. When I think of Lupe expanding his range, this is it.

Break the chain - 6/10 - Another song where the beat ruins the song. I have no doubt Lupe is forced into these beats, and he's still trying to make the audience recognize the quality of his lyrics. It works, because he's Lupe. His words on a beat that is not up-tempo club central electro bullshit, and its a home run.

All Black Everything - 9.5/10 - This is the best track on the album. This is this albums version of "The Cool", in terms of unique concept, great lyrics and delivery. Cool beat too, I would have been shattered if he wasted these lyrics and ideas on a horrible beat.

Never Forget You - 8/10 - A very good finish to a very weird album. Lupe puts the stamp down, these are the type of collabs he should be making.

Overall: This is not a Lupe album, this is Lupe at 50% of his capability. The songs that are not Lupe quality are so easy to identify, there's no real debate. That's a good thing, it tells me he hasn't lost his touch at all, but he's been stifled by some execs who have no interest in Lupe Fiasco. Decent album, 6-7 tracks I'll keep, the rest are going to be remembered as songs that Lupe was forced to make. Goodbye Atlantic. The real Lupe Fiasco will stand up later this year with HIS album.

It's a good song, just the chorus isn't the best.

Not as bad as the boy band chorus of State Run Radio.

It sounds like some 80's electro beat.

It doesn't fit Lupe.

Lupe's lyrics actually pretty good.

You can almost see Lupe being uncomfortable on the beat, his voice is almost fighting the beat, trying to be louder than it and more in tune with it.

Whenever an artist has to change anything about their game to accommodate a beat, theres a problem. It should be the other way around, all the time.

After listening to the album many times I have finished my ratings

Letting Go- 7/10 This track has a great hook. One of the few I liked on this album. Lupe just doesn't in on it though. He doesn't get much of the song to himself anyway. The chorus takes up so much time. What time he does spend on it is in a weird voice

Words I Never Said- 8.5/10 WINS has grown on me since it came out and I find myself playing it a lot. I don't think this is one of Skylar's best hooks but its not awful. Lupe is great except for the ignorant comments about 9/11. One of the best on the album

Til I Get There- 8/10 I know this song isn't lyrically that good but I love it. Maybe it was the chilled out vibe of the song. I don't know but I find myself playing this song a lot. At this point in the album I was actually enjoying it.

I Don't Wanna Care Right Now- 4/10 God I hate this song. I know it probably isn't as bad as a 4 but I just can't believe Lupe agreed to released Lasers with this song on it. The hook and beat are annoying. Lupe sounds like he's making african dance music (best way I could describe it)

Out Of My Head- 3.5/10 I have been trying to decide if this track pissed me off more than the previous and I have come to the conclusion that it did. This is the worst song Lupe has ever made. Simply put.

The Show Goes On- 8.5/10 I love this song so much that I may have over rated it but this is the Lupe I want to hear. Sure the rhyming may be simplistic at times for a Lupe song but this is one of those songs where it doesn't matter as much.

Beautiful Lasers- 9.5/10 In my opinion this is the best song on the album. This song gets some hate because of the autotuned chorus but I think it adds to the song. It sets the errie vibe of the song. Lupe spits some very deep lyrics. Both verses are masterful. The only thing I would change about this song is that there is only two medium sized verses limiting Lupe's time on the song. A third verse would have been nice.

Coming Up- 6/10 Lupe is so out of place on this song that it makes the song sound stupid despite the fact that Lupe does well on it.

State Run Radio- 7.5/10 I just don't get it why make fun of songs that are made to appeal to the radio when you are rapping on a song with a pop hook and beat. Regardless of this the song is actually nice to listen to.

Break The Chain- 6.5/10 I fucking love Lupe's first verse but the hook is the most annoying on the whole album. Another song ruined by a bad hook. It also doesn't help that it sounds like the beat was made for clubs while Lupe's lyrics are actually saying something. Another song that Lupe does not fit on.

All Black Everything- 9/10 Lupe is absolute fire on this song. From start to finish it is just Lupe spitting greatness. This ressembles the Coolest a lot and thats one of my favourite songs ever. Some of the stuff that he says are just worn out though.

Never Forget You- 8.5/10 This would be a 10 if not for the chorus being SO FUCKING LONG. Lupe does about as good as possible on this track. All the lyrics hit home. But they are so short :(

Overall I give Lasers a 8. It is actually a good album but just not what I want at all. Leave Atlantic and make F & L 2 the way YOU want
