As the title says, we're gonna skate tomorrow afternoon until his show at 7:30, then hang out a while after.
I'll post pics/videos when I get back to houston on Sunday

EDIT:
Got there about 5 hours before the show, myself, Swizzz, swizzz's brother, and hopsin all hung out around town. Hop and I played S.K.A.T.E. (I won lol, SwizZz filmed it, it'll be uploaded today). Then they went to do rehearsal for about 2 hours, I went to get some food.Menzo wrote:It's Sunday. What happenedddddddddd?
After that, Hop gave me a call, and we skated around town while SwizZz chilled in the hotel, Hop ended up breaking his board, but it was cool because the show was starting soon anyway. Before the show, SwizZz and I had a deep ass 1-on-1 in the back, it was crazy. That's a real dude right there, I got a crazy amount of respect for SwizZz, he basically told me his whole story about quitting college and going to work on music with Hop. Basically the story is that it was about 5 of them back in highschool who used to rap, and they all had to make the decision around senior year to either rap, or do "real life" as he called it.
He explained to me that Hop was the only one who went for it, followed by him getting signed/shelved by Ruthless. SwizZz never actually "majored in economics". He didn't major in anything. He barely made it through his 2nd year of collage, and he came to the realization that he was only there because he felt obligated by his family to be.
Anyway, he told me how near the end of his 3rd year, he gave up and went to meet up with Hop, and Funk Volume was born. He told me how they would stay up all the way through the night, for days and days just brainstorming about what they wanted Funk Volume to be. What they wanted it to be presented as, how big they want it to get, etc.
I got home around 5:30am, and I just woke up to Hop giving me a shoutout on his facebook

Side note: Hop asked me how I found his music, and I told him about how he's made at least 500+ fans through TRShady, followed by us talking about rap in general, and he actually likes the new Shady 2.0 team.

I ended up getting a signed FV shirt and RAW album.
It was good times, and no, I did not stan it up, unfortunately. It's cool be a friend of FV now, as opposed to just a fan. Even talked a little bit about a future collab

Hop's really laid back. All he wants to do is skate, he likes skating more than he does music. While we were skating around town before the show, he was like "Ah dude, I don't wanna perform, I just wanna skate". SwizZz is different though, he loves music and nothing more.
Hop and SwizZz are real dudes, just like you and me. They don't think they're the fucking shit because they do music, it wasn't like I had expected. But dude, they fucking killed the show, it was crazy. Like everything changes as soon as they pick up a mic, Hop is easily one of the best performer's I've ever seen. They opened with Hot 16's (we gon' have one hell of a time
). They did about 10 tracks (roughly 50% RAW and 50% Gazing at the Moonlight). They didn't miss a single word, it was a perfect performance.Something tells me this isn't the last time we'll cross paths

And to be honest, I think they asked me more questions than I did them, they really give a shit about their listeners.
PS: They actually refer to eachother as Hop and SwizZz, spent like 8 hours total with the dudes and never heard Marcus or Justin lol, oh and it turns out that it wasn't originally "Hopsin". At first he went by "Lyrical Hopson". And originally Hop was a beatboxer, he picked up rapping after his friends did. Just some random info SwizZz told me

PPS: SwizZz isn't putting on that voice for his music. That's his actual voice, he just exaggerates it and gives it more flavor when he spits. When I first started listening last year, I was kinda annoyed by it, but you learn to love it. It's hard to explain, but it's like when you hear him talk you can hear his lyrics in your head because nobody else has that sound and he's completely aware of it, it's crazy
