Well there's different levels of classics, I blame Illmatic for raising the bar too high than when he does drop a decent album everyone writes it off as mediocore. That's how much of an impact illmatc had, but to get to the point opinions on IWW, Stillmatic, Untitled vary too much for it to be a set in stone classic. Their good albums, personal classics if you will, but do you honestly believe their up their with the best of them, like Liquid Swords, OB4CL, Ironman, Atliens, etc. I think you know what type of albums I'm referring to.

I see what you mean.

These albums you mentioned got universal acclaim, which can't be said for a lot of Nas' albums.
However, if we're going strictly by quality, Stillmatic & Untitled are most definitely classic albums.

Overrated
I've never liked Tech N9ne or MF Doom.

In Defense Of The Underground

You guys act like Bis is overrated but I mean how many people on this forum even like him? People act like he has a huge fan base but it's a smoke screen.

DZK and Sadistik are amazing. Fuck the haters.

Immortal Technique is one dimensional but Revolutionary Vol 2 was awesome so fuck off.

Vinni Paz isn't mentioned nearly as often as Jedi Mind Tricks. Stoupe is the main reason I like them. I'm sure almost any decent rapper would sound awesome over his production. So saying he is overrated isn't quite fair considering people don't usually mention him but his group.

Damn Chris. :'(

WHAT? How is brother ali overrated at all? He's never mentioned and his story telling is superb. Not to mention he's one of the most unique rappers ever. Honestly, I've only seen one other person one here mention his name besides me. And I can't even tell you who that was because I don't remember...

Overrated:

DZK
Tech n9ne
Hopsin
Royce (He's decent but not what everyone makes him out to be)
Immortal Tech / Vinnie paz - probably the most overrated UG rappers EVER.
Mac Miller

There's probably more but I really can't think of any. Those pop into mind, though.

How are Rhyme Asylum, Sadistik & DZK overrated? barely anyone knows them to begin with.
I like Immortal Technique, Vinnie Paz, Tech N9ne & Hopsin but they are pretty fucking well known so if someone thinks they're overrated thats at least a reasonable personal opinion, but calling rappers that are generally unknown overrated is fucking ridiculous unless you mean on this site rather than in general.

DZK isn't unknown. He has like the number one hits on soundclick. He's famous all over the net. The only reason he doesn't have a name off the net is because he's a fat insecure prick who is scared to put in work and do actual shows. Well, that and bux writes most of his shit.

But DZK is severely overrated on the net. Not just on this site... Any hip hop site you go to knows his name. Just because the general public doesn't, doesn't mean he isn't 'famous'.

Idk, I just can't stand the dude. I've talked with him on more than one occasion and he's just a fucktard. He's a retarded pill head, lol.

So when I first heard Everready I loved like half of it. Expecting it to be just his normal album, I started looking for his classic, to my surprise... Everready was actually his best! Overrating at it's finest!

Army Of The Pharaohs

Apart from a few members (Celph, Kamachi when he was around, Apathy) they're a more lyrical Slaughterhouse with most tracks lacking subject content and only a few of these stand out.

Never got into DZK either

I think some of you can't make the difference between ovarrated on this forum, overrated everywhere and the ones you actually dont like lol.I can consider a rapper overrated but still like him.
That being said, they would go like this:
-Hopsin is def falling under the overrated rappers on this site(i still love his albums lol)but many people outisde this forum don't know about him(maybe he will get more buzz with Tech's help)
-Mac Miller,Ahser Roth-i feel these dudes are mad overrated on twitter and FB etc...can't get into them at all lol
-Lil B...kind of falls into all categories IMO...that's all for now lol.

Visit most hip-hop sites/forums or YouTube videos. They act like he's some kind of lyrical messiah - he's a poor lyricist full of forced multies with a horrible delivery and flow. Obviously, Bis fans will go "You just dont get his knowledge and musik!!!" when in reality no-one wants to because he's so bad and he's really not that smart.

Vinnie Paz gets wanked over by underground fans. I don't get it.

And he's overrated to me. It's all perspective. If someone says "he's good" then that's overrated to me, but to you, I guess that means he's underrated. Depends how good you think they are

Not true. Yotube doesn't count, look at the Eminem fans on there :facepalm His fans on Canibus-Central are like Em's fans on here. They don't treat him like a God, they can see his Encore/Relapse level material as just that.

Damn, I can't believe people actually mentioned Jedi Mind Tricks/ Army of the Pharaohs.
Almost all of the music that comes out of that camp is lyrical eargasm.
