The Marshall Mathers LP out in the 80's without Internet - 50-80,000,000 for sure. So what are you talking about?

A major exaggeration lmao...but, he would have probably sold much much more than he actually did. Even today, if we didn't have downloading, then Recovery would have sold twice of what it has.

Oh no doubt about it. Probably all of his albums would be at least twice as much. Just not MJ's level lol.

And it's nothing to do with Eminem..it's more so rap music simply doesn't have as large of a following as traditional music.

This is an intresting point. I really wanna know what record sales would look like today if downloading didnt exist. I still dont see Em outselling MJ though lol.

Could have been possible, why not? Remember the incredible hype back in the days ...

He put out at least 3 albums that were on the top. Not many artists out there who can say that too ...

MJ has a lot of fans that don't have Facebook. Think about the older generation, for example.... Eminem is in no way more popular than MJ.

Thriller was the biggest album ever created less than a year after it came out, it only got bigger. I doubt any rapper could do this, MJ appeals to a much bigger audience.

Only? Eminem has sold 80 million records in his lifetime period. Think about it. Even if MMLP or TES came out in the 80s he still wouldn't sell like Michael, the king of Pop was beloved by so many people that loved and appreciated the art of music.

You guys are confusing what is what here, I think I've written this up in the past.

There is a difference between popularity and fame. Popularity is temporary, fame is forever. Who is more popular will fluctuate and go up and down, that doesn't really matter. What really matters if your fame, your legacy.

Em is currently more popular then M.J. but when it comes down to fame MJ has a wider mass appeal and world wide success. Both will go down in history as being famous, but one appeals to a wider audience than the other.
And everything's spinning
You're beginin' to think women
are swimming in pink linen again in the sink
Then in a couple of minutes that bottle of Guinness is finished

No one can proove that, so I'll never change my mind.

Don't forget, Em is out there since only 12 years and already achieved a lot. No one knows what will happen in 10-20 years. Immagine Em dropping 3-4 classics in that period ...
