For attention of Novi Novak fans - need clarification

Postby stillmatic » Mar 18th, '11, 00:50

Okay so as you guys know by now, I'm not really that knowledgeable with these new underground rappers.

So last night some of my homies were trying to get me into him.

One of the songs they played me was this one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDJVJvKVKio

So as I was listening to this, I was the only one who noticed this and it got all of us confused.

This Novi line here.

And all these rappers thats thinkin they the sh1t/
about to get September 13th, 1996'd/

Am I missing something, or is he doing what I think he's doing there?

Is this motherfucker for real? I was feeling his songs before this, but one line ruined it all for me. Is he really trying to make a warning punchline that relates to the death of Tupac? Where the fuck did this little douchebag get the balls to do that?

Does Hopsin know about this line?

If not, then we need to let him know of this ASAP.

Eh it's no Biggie to me :shifty:

But nah I don't really take offense. He was clowning around and trying to make a dope line, I'm pretty sure he wasn't intentionally disrespecting Tupac. Bad taste? Yes. Malicious? No.

Eminem has said WAY more offensive things about dead people, like the Jon Benet Ramses line.

Prince EA and Wax have worse lyrics in Get Busy:

(Prince EA)
You got rhymes, but mine better
Big died in 97, I would know, I got his body in my wine cellar
(Wax)
It's true, I been down there, that shit is fucking weird
He got Pac's head on the wall like it's a fucking deer

Haha yeah I loved those lines. It's obvious they were just clowning.

Watch the video if you haven't, it's hilarious.

Eminems made Pac jokes before too

Well I do pop pills
I keep my tube socks filled
and pop the same shit that got Tupac killed

Flashin back to being shot and repeatin the scenes
on how you just got smoked, and if you do live
You'll be too scared to tell it, like a Biggie and 'Pac joke

Thats all they are, jokes.

That's what I mean though homie. Eminem's is clowning around, he's not trying to make a rhyme out of it, it's just clowning.

Novi's is flat out disrespectful. He's practically saying he'll murder rappers, and then references it to Tupac's death. WTF kind of shit is that?

Trust me, I'm no drama queen looking to take one line out of context in songs, I'm all for style and grace in hip hop, but I think this is past that.

Just me though.

He didn't mean it like that, he's just saying he kills rappers on tracks. Don't read too much into it. Novi never drops gangster or threatening lyrics, he was just trying to make a dope line. I almost garauntee he didn't write that line meaning "if you think you're better than me, I will literally find you and kill you, just like I would have Tupac."

yeah I was certain there was no way he would mean that, and it was an accident.

I was just generally shocked at how disrespectful it was. I wonder if he knows it too.

Put me off the dude. At least for a while.

Team Hopsin it is !

Yeah I don't think he realizes some shit he says is just wrong. Like, in his Black And Yellow remix, which is mostly dope, he says "porche I'm in baby red like abortion skin."

WTF dude? That's gross. You aren't a horrorcore rapper, why the hell would you say that? Why would I want to picture that?

What? Now I'm confused.

I actually haven't heard a single Hopsin song. But I thought I was supposed to? Isn't TR Shady's underground clique all about Hopsin?

What are you confused about? And just look up Hopsin on Youtube. Here, i'll start off with a dope song:

He's really good. I'm not a Stan on his nuts like a lot of people on here, but he's sick. Give him a listen.

@FreeSpeechThat abortion skin line is clever and one of the few I liked on his Black & Yellow remix

@stillmatic check out some of his songs and judge for yourself, if you want a place to start I suggest
Nocturnal Rainbows
Pans In The Kitchen
Who Do You Think I Am
Ill Mind Of Hopsin
Ill Mind Of Hopsin 3

EDIT: FS posted the first song already, check it out and go from there.

It's somewhat clever, but 100% innapropriate for the song. He isn't that type of rapper, and that line didn't fit. Like, there's a lot of dope Gravediggaz and Brotha Lynch Hung lines, but they'd be messed up if used by dudes like Drake or Jay-Z. Get it?
