I think Em had his passion back for Recovery. Talkin 2 Myself, Going Through Changes, 25 To Life, You're Never Over sound as passionate as anything Em has ever done, to me. It's since Recovery that he has slipped... too many features and reliance on shitty punchlines, shouting and women-hating content. Give him time, that's why I'm not eager for a new album this year, I'd rather wait another year for him to get his passion back again and record some quality, emotive music.

The emotion he uses today is like.. Fake angry, not from his heart, it's like he's trying to be angry on purpose; It's hard to explain but that's how I would describe it lol

I would exclude INAD though, shit was serious on that track

I was majorly impressed with 'I Need A Doctor'. His emotion was sincere and genuine. He destroyed those verses. I forgot about that song, but yeah.. it was good.

Even Encore had some creative entertaining aspect to it.

Relapse was supposed to twisted...but it was childish, though technically impressive as hell.

Recovery was just a hollow album. Like he tried to do The Eminem Show again with different production but failed completely.

I agree almost entirely with Lello. I think me and him are on the same wave length. It's all about the passion. Like he said, Eminem used to embody music and now its just what he does.

Although, Relapse truly was amazing in hindsight. If you think about it, no other rapper would make an album like that. Who else would use a fuck-crazy accent like that? I might be stretching a little bit, but I'd come close to saying it was a masterpiece. The accent, to me, is actually a refreshing sound now. I kind of miss it haha. Go back and listen to songs like SWA, Ganja, Deja Vu, even My Mom and Insane. Those songs are original and batshit insane. Its fun to listen to. And it comes technically correct.

I used to think Recovery was good when it first came out, but now that the hype has died, I'd say I would put just 2 songs into my "Best of Eminem" rotation.

But yeah, I agree that he's missing that passion and that fire that made his music osund so genuine. Mockingbird, for example, is probably one of my favorite song from him. Like Toy Soldiers too. True passion, and that was back when people thought he fell off.

No ,his passion is still there. But changed his style, using all these punchlines which don't fit him.I used to think it was the shouting, but no,it's mostly the lack of the subject,no story behind all these lyrics, mostly just dope punchlines with no targer really. He got that SH style that doesn't fit him.Oh and those different productions and samples didn't help either. That's why i think if he would hang out more with D12,produce some of the tracks himself and get back on Dre's beats, the guy we all love, the one that made SSLP,MMLP and TES classics, would be able to get back.
I still enjoy Recovery tho,i don't hate it,i actually enjoy more then half of it and no,i don't think he fell off.I doubt he was told by Jimmy or whoever to go with this style,i think it was his own choise. But i rarely(to never) listen to those 2010-2011 tracks, they have very low replay value for me.

No other rapper would dare to make an album so bad. The only reason Relapse sold was because it had 'Eminem' on the cover.

If Relapse was put out by an unknown trying to make a name in the mainstream, they'd get ripped to pieces and lose all credibility. Relapse was awful.

Wth you talking about?Relapse was awesome, lyrically, storytelling,i don't even hate the accents smh :facepalm

Em has definiteyl fallen off. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but his songs just aren't on the same level as the early 2000's. I don't think he'll ever be able to get back into the same mind state (not that he should at his age).

I thought Recovery was alright, but not awesome. Going Through Changes is one of my favorite Em song however:

God knows, honestly compare TES and The 8 Mile soundtrack stuff to Encore - it has to be the biggest and most rapid decline in quality for a rap artist ever

Though I have to say, parts of Relapse are some of THE best displaying of emceeing I've EVER heard, but since then, most of his music is just so...forced - his recent verses have been awful to my ears - if they wern't coming out of Em's mouth nobody would bat an eyelid

His work from 1997-2003 however, will always keep him up there with ANY rapper to ever pick up a pen

Lello is the most bi-polar member this site had.

Recovery is a great MODERN classic.

Such a dumb ass.

BTW lello, bro u are following the crowd here, becoming one of these so called hip hop heads who are like Recovery is bad,Em fallen off,he sucks.

Yes i agree Em did fall off,he fell of the highest peak any rapper ever reached with SSLP then MMLP,stayed hanging strong with TES,fingers got sweaty, went down too much with Encore, start climbing with relapse, and is still there with recovery.

DA! out!

What type of half assed reasoning is this? If he thinks Eminem fell of and isn't as good now, maybe it's because he's exposed to more quality artists at the moment and doesn't feel like subjecting himself to mediocore music that he feels is a chore is a listen too, it's not because he's trying to "follow the crowd". You can wank Eminem's paltry accomplishments until you ejaculate blood, but don't accuse other people of trying to be cool, by disliking newer Eminem.

It's funny, I listened to TES this week for the first time in a long time and I loved it, it was straight up anger, passion and hunger. All three of those don't seem as real on Recovery, which is a shame.

I've been thinking about it lately though, can't it just be that most of us look through nostalgia glasses? I mean I grew up listening to Eminem, I heard all the albums so many times it's unbelievable. It was in a time where I was in love with rap. Nowadays, my music taste has grown so much, through all these different genres that it's almost impossible for Eminem to give me the same 'buzz' as he did back then. When Encore came out, I bought it first day and I LOVED it, I loved everything about that album, so it's very likely that if he made Recovery back then, I would of loved it the same.

Another funny fact is that my father is a very trained listener, listening mostly to blues and rock, but he LOVED Eminem. He used to play it on his own and he went with me to the concert in 03. He has been to hundreds of concerts and he always says it was one of his favorites ever. He didn't like Encore though, nor any other stuff after TES, he said the passion was kind of gone.

hmmm... well I must say Deja Vu, The Warning, and Going Through Changes are on par with his earlier stuff. I just don't like how he gave into his 'mainstream' fans when his hardcore dedicated base doesn't want poppy beats and screaming. I always think about this: It must feel like a punch in the gut if Eminem ever reads or hears that his fans like Relapse more than Recovery, after he bashed Relapse on Recovery.

I havent listened to Em in god knows how long. I just don't find it interesting. He needs to take a few years and collect himself. Get into the lab with Dre, and find out what he's passionate about. Not love, forced punchlines, and being back. God damn, I've been slowly drifting away from Em for a while, and I hate it. I can't stand that he's making songs with Nicki Minaj and god knows who else. A collab with Nas, Jay, Raekwon, or Andre 3000 would be nice. And he needs to find his voice again, his flow. His voice/flow is not screaming or an accent. He has the skills, he just needs to know how to put it together with PASSION

@ Slimm. Anyone with a brain and knowledge can examine what is a good rap song and what isn't.

We all know Eminem fell off. The real question is, what happened to his fans?

Seems like every one of his Recovery/Relapse fans are brainwashed. They no longer possess the mind and will to understand what a good Eminem song is. Most are in fact so lost in him, they don't know what's dope. They hear a multi and they bust a nut.
