Do you listen to Hip Hop in other languages?

And if so do you find it as enjoyable as listening to Hip Hop in your native language? This had me thinking despite the artists not speaking language that you can easily decipher, (Japanese, French, etc.) there still has to be some cadence and rhythm in their music where they ride the beat. There really is no difference in listening to a rapper in another language flow to beat as is listening to beautiful guitar work. They both sound good soninically, regardless of not understanding their technicalities.

Which brings me to another point I want to make, is when pretentious assholes like to say that you can't understand said rapper so you don't appreciate said rapper's music (Canibus, Any rapper with punchlines that make obscene allusions to cultural references) is fucking bullshit. Even if you don't understand many of the terminologies they use, you can still enjoy their overall vocal performace, a lot of rappers I enjoy who are intelligent speak about subjects that I completely don't understand,(Blackalicious-Chemical Calisthenics), I suck at chemistry but his flow and rhythm still makes the song enjoyable.

Or how about Ghostface's stream of consciousness rhymes? Where he completely rhymes babble (Nutmeg, some Wu stans tried making up meanings for his words) but his delivery, energy, and intricate attention to detail still make it enjoyable regardless. Yeah I know they're two different types, the former being hard for me to decipher because my lack of knowledge on the subject, whereas the latter being incomprehensible because of how he's uses all this street terminology exclusive to his area.

So the whole said rappers is too smart for you, therefore you can't enjoy him is total bullshit and people who use that cop out excuse are pretentious assholes, still I'm not stupid and don't see it as black and white either. Being able to understand the meaning of songs and the allusions in them makes it more enjoyable in the way that you finally get what is being said and aren't completely left clueless, but it doesn't make the song any more enjoyable soninically.

Sido is probably the best German rapper and the only one I listen to (or used to listen to) on a regular basis.
I fucking hate Bushido, he is so pretentuous and a really bad rapper. His lyrics are ghostwritten and they still aren't particularly impressive. He puts no heart in his music whatsoever and would say anything on a record just to make it sell.
Most other German rappers suck too.

I listen to albanian rap, since i'm from there. And I also listen to some french rap since i live in belgium, where french is spoken by 50% of the people, but not a lot, i don't like it that much.

I think a lot of foreign rappers think that rap = being a gangsta, and they don't understand the real "goal" of writing something. It's ok to have a few gangsta song, even Em has lol. But talking about that in litteraly every records is simply dumb.

If it sound cool, i can also listen to some german rap. Ahaha. Well I also listen to Us rap, obviously but that doesn't count.

I listen to rap in English (including British rap for the people that like to separate them..), rap in Dutch, rap in Arabic, rap in French, and rap in German. I also listen to rap in Spanish from time to time, but, my Spanish isn't that good...

The only non-English Hip Hop song I have on my iPod is by this group called Too Phat.
Amazing song called Alhamdulillah. It became quite a hit here.


They made an English version of the song as well (original version is better though)

There's only a few rappers who are worth listening to in France according to me, most of the french rappers compare their lifes to the "gangsta" life that people can have in american cities such as L.A. ( Compton etc ) or New-York ( Bronx, Queens and etc ) . They want to do things like americans do things that's stupid and pointless to me . But regardless of those wannabe gangsters, I gotta admit that yes there's a minority of french rappers that have some albums or tracks worth listening to . I don't often listen to french rappers therefore I couldn't give you the titles of the songs that people here in France call "lyrical" . I'm just going to give you all, some tracks I really like in particular because of an instrumental or a catchy chorus or simply because I like the track lol .
