Apathy vs Joe Budden

Postby dead prez » Mar 19th, '11, 19:07

Bored, but curious who's better or to be politically correct who do you prefer?

Who has better punchlines?
Better songwriter?
Better overall?

Don't really listen to either that much, but am trying to get into their music.

Better punchlines: Budden
Better songwriter: Budden

Better overall: Budden

But, I guess I'm biased, I'm a Budden fan.

Apathy is more original. He comes with really creative concepts. Also has better guest verses.

Joe Budden has a better catalog. He's a bit monotonous with his subject matter though.

As I a big fan of both, it's really a toss up in some areas. Honestly, Ap would probably murder joey if it came to dissing. Aps got that real gritty east coast delivery. And his flow is smooth as shit.. Joey is just now getting his flow in check.. he's even mentioned it himself before.

As far as content, joey is a little one dimentional. Sure, he keeps it real (which is why I'm a big fan) but let's be honest, alot of his records say the same shit in a different tone.

Ap is alot more original with what he says and what he talks about. (Cheap sunglasses, winter) etc.. they both have dope punches, though, so it's really a toss up.

even though they both use punchlines frequently, they're a very different genre of rap, in my eyes.

I listened to all of Apathy's albums, one listen each. It's not that I couldn't get in to his music, some of the songs were amazing, but the production is just boring, it sounds the same on most of his songs, specifically his drums. But I can get into his stuff if I listen to it more... His stuff with AOTP is crazy though. I find his verses on AOTP songs much better than on most of his albums...

The better rapper is Apathy, if they were to beef, Apathy will destroy Budden, hands down.

You know why I like Joe Budden's music so much? It's because it's relatable. He delivers his verses with so much passion and emotion, he uses his music as therapy, he opens up, it gets very personal sometimes. Everybody who has been through some shit can relate to it, at least, that's how I see it.

And his punchlines are really good, too. Especially his sports metaphors. His flow back in the day used to be one sided and not that smooth. But his flow got a lot smoother nowadays, I guess Royce is rubbing of on him.

1 thing can only take you so far though. He's killed his genre but Apathy has gotten good at it everything, though I wish he was more personal at times.

I'm honestly trying to get into Joe Budden's music, but his voice/delivery is such a turn off to me. Lol, I guess after being spoiled by Prodigy (95-99) I nitpick at rapper's deliveries, which is sad cause I know he's a pretty sick lyricist.

Don't know about killing the sub genre, but, I can see what you mean with him talking about the same things. But, it's just that he likes to rap about real life. And since real life goes on every day, he has more than enough to say, lol.

Yeah, a lot of people seem to dislike his voice. I don't mind it, personally. His delivery isn't that bad either, it's subjective, though.

Rhyme Asylum and DZK did that to me with lyrics. It really sucks cause it does stop me from enjoying a lot of music, especially old school stuff.

I can't tell if that was a serious comment or if that was supposed to be some high brow retort at me, lol.
