The words I never said...

I always fucking hated this guy. Just seeing his obnoxious fucking avatars like the Jason mask one pissed me off. I never said anything because he seemed like too easy of a target to virtually pimp slap and his English was terrible so I felt kinda bad for him, but his logic was fucking retarded. According to him:

-SpeakerBoxxx/The Love Below was OutKast's best album
-Unless your album sells a shit load worldwide, you can't be considered great, but when Lil' Wayne comes into the discussion it's back to the skills-only debate.
-If your top 10 didn't consist of only 'the legendz' (2Pac, Rakim, Eminem, Biggie, etc.), your top 10 is "laughable".
-Nobody was a fan of 2Pac before he died.
-Encore is better than 90% of the rap albums out there.
-If you like Kanye or any underground artist out there over 'the legendz', or if you don't believe in his sales debate, then you are instantly a "youngster" and your opinion is automatically invalidated.
-If the general consensus/public opinion is leaning towards one thing, then that thing must be true. "Why else would they think that way?"

LOLLLLLLL, he was the first guy I used to always debate with (albeit it being one sided, and was one of the many reasons I became regular), next would be stillmatic, Master Chief and Class. Still he was fucking retarded, felt kinda bad looking back.

Although his points are retarded, I can see what he's trying to say.

1st point, being that it probably sold the most worldwide, which coincides with his belief of sales=greatness.
2nd point-he was a point somewhat and if he clarified it, it might be legitimate. Basically he's saying that along the road MOST people (you know 30 years from now) will only remember guys like Pac, Eminem, Jay z, Bigge etc. Hell even Nas might be hardpressed to be remembered.
3rd point- Being an oldtimer (lol) kids nowadays usually do forget legends like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, G rap, Slick Rick and only remember guys like Eminem, Nas, Jay, Tupac, Big (typical top five). Though those that do know them (many times) tend to sacred cow the "legends". Such as Rakim being the greatest lyricist of all time, Slick Rick best storyteller ever.
4th point- This point is retarded, but I think he means most people didn't put Pac on a pedestal until he died.
5th point- I have no excuse for this garbage, honestly
6th point- This point is retarded as well and one big ad hominem, I hate people who say that you're 16 or any age lower, therefore you don't know rap.
7th point- Don't agree with this at all, but some classic classic albums are only considered that because of the general consensus surronding them (illmatic, R2D,OB4CL, Liquid Swords, etc.), where other classics have too much of a varying opinion to be considered a classic classic (stillmatic, hell on earth, Doe or Die, IWW)

Well I can't believe I actually took the time to defend him, somewhat...

If your top 10 consisted of Em, Nas, Jay, Pac, & BIG, he'd be fine with that.

If your top 10 consists of this:

One Be Lo
Eminem
Nas
Jay z
Aceyalone
Gift of Gab
Canibus
Gza
K-os
Lupe Fiasco

That's when it's laughable.

Those weren't my top ten, those were my top ten lyricists.

I do remember he made fun of Class' top ten, lol.

Who is the King you??Hip-Hop doesn't need fans like you.
Also your Top-10 list is the most terrible I've ever seen.

Merry Christmas!

No one has started a top 10 topic for fuck knows how long so I searched for the closest thing lol.

I highly doubt the dude is actually as "old" and "experienced" in Hip Hop as he says he is. He gradually got better but when he first started posting here what he typed was vaguely reminiscent of the English language. All of his 'facts' seems like they're copy-pasted straight from Youtube comments.

1st point, being that it probably sold the most worldwide, which coincides with his belief of sales=greatness.

I get why he said it, but it's just blatantly retarded. It's like he convinces himself to like something because the general public used to love it yet is still stuck on the "Hip Hop is dead" shit. He's failure to evolve, he's corny. Love Below was a good album for what it was but the thing is I highly doubt he even listened to it, and if he did listen to OutKast's discography he probably treated it like ambiance and doesn't even stop to realize what makes the group great in the first place. Ever notice how he never says anything about flow, multis, beats, or any actual aspect of an artist other than sales and how the public views them?

2nd point-he was a point somewhat and if he clarified it, it might be legitimate. Basically he's saying that along the road MOST people (you know 30 years from now) will only remember guys like Pac, Eminem, Jay z, Bigge etc. Hell even Nas might be hardpressed to be remembered.

I could give a fuck if Nas or Copywrite are remembered as long as they keep putting out quality music. That's what makes them great in my eyes. Drake is going to have a bigger impact on this earth than Atmosphere ever will, but I'm not going to say he's "greater" than them.

I guess it means how you define "great", but the way he played it off is that someone can't pick an artist over a "Greater" one because they haven't made an impact in the mainstream, because "even greats like Nas have sales".

How long did it take for Illmatic to go platinum? Yeah.

Em1973 says "I don't even like Michael Jackson, but I recognize that he's still my favorite pop artist". How does that make ANY SENSE?. He's a steering wheel that has the industry's cock wrapped around it while it fucks him into whatever direction that he crashes into.

Fair enough, my top ten fluctuates a lot though. Only consistant ones that stay are Ghostface, Nas, Prodigy and Eminem.

I honestly don't understand why people opt for the if you're a certain age than you don't know shit about Hip Hop, one of the biggest ad hominems out there. Sad thing is a lot of people actually think this is a legitimate reason to dismiss someone's opinion about the matter.

Word I hate people who front like they know what they're talking about, he seems like the type of kid at school to show off his triple plastic album that no one heard about to be edgy or more knowledgable about Hip Hop.

I don't agree with him at all, btw just trying to rationalize his utterly retarded beliefs, just because I like to play devil's advocate.

Sad thing is years from now, when we're 40 most people our age will probably only remember the artists that sold a ton, unless they're Hip Hop heads who really delve into the genre.
