The thing about the new Shady Family is that theres a very good chance that they could explode, releasing classic albums left and right. Em, Slaughterhouse, and Yelawolf all have the potential to do that. But theres an equal chance that they could all release pure shit, Em shows amazing potential for another classic but his recent verses have been :facepalm . Slaughterhouse has been a very boring group so far, but they have talked about talking about actual things in their songs so they might be great. If Yelawolf makes a good album with a great single I can see him blowing up big, he's original and interesting and has great style. But I can also seeing going relatively unnoticed, not unnoticed unnoticed, Obie Trice unnoticed (I have high expectations for him).

Relevant doesn't equal popular. Eminem has a massive fanbase, he can outsell any rapper alive basically. Kanye is much more relevant, he's a younger MC who still has music to make and potential to fulfill. If Em never made another song, I could accept his career as fulfilled. Kanye is still changing the game, Eminem not so much.

Look at Snoop Dogg. He still makes lots of music, sells fairly well, but he isn't really relevant. Obviously Eminem is more relevant than Snoop Dogg, but he is no longer the one setting the trends like Kanye. There's a new era of rappers now:

Kanye, Drake, Nicki, Cudi, J Cole, Wiz, etc. I'm obviously not saying they are better than Eminem or even close, but they are the faces of hip hop now. Eminem is merely a veteran who can keep up, kinda like Jay-Z.

In that case, yeah sadly I have the agree. Kanye is channging the game and so is Cudi. But, Eminem is def. one of the main faces of Hip-Hop. Just cause he doesn't fit with the new era doesn't mean he's not a face of Hip-Hop.

It isn't sad, hiphop is moving in a very positive direction IMO.
And yes, but being a face isn't the same as being relevant and changing the game.

Em is definitely relevant...

I am excited for Yelawolf, Slaughterhouse, and 50's albums. So I am optimistic.

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

I'm excited, but I'm "lottery scratcher" excited. I'm excited and hoping for something incredible, but I'm not expecting it. I'm sure they will all have good albums, but nothing jaw dropping (save maybe Em if he drops his post-Recovery style)...

It is not about the lyrics anymore...it`s about a hot beat and a catchy hook.
Drake, Nicki, Cudi changing hip hop? They can get big, famous, but they will never change hip hop as Em, or make an impact as him. Not even close. Kanye is better than those three I named, but also not close to Em.

I think he's already dropped that style kind of the voice he used on 2.0 boys wasn't on recovery he sounded more hungry and actually into it. The only thing about that verse that was like that album was the punchlines.

LOL what?

@ Freespeech

Internationally Kanye isn't even close to being as relevant as he was 2-3 years ago. I don't know if that's the case in the states. But Em is far more relevant over here than Kanye is. And album sales IS a part of being relevant btw. And I wouldn't call the current "movement" in hip hop positive...
