Talib Kweli Has The Best Discography In Hip-Hop

Postby MikeNUFC » Mar 31st, '11, 15:09

No-one is fucking with this

1998 Black Star

2000 Train of Thought

2002 Quality

2004 The Beautiful Struggle

2007 Eardrum

2010 Revolutions Per Minute

2011 Gutter Rainbows

All high quality. That first 4 album run is absolutely insane, though - best 4 album run ever.

Not to mention a shit load of high quality mixtapes.

Quality and/or Beautiful Struggle

If you enjoy it then get Black Star (it's a collab album with Mos Def - one of my favourite albums ever) then go from there.

Not for me, Mos was the star of Black Starr, Train of The Thought and Quality are very good, but the rest are average, the last two in particular are extremely sub par

I'm a big fan of Talib Kweli but have never been that big a fan of Train of thought and Beautiful Struggle. Personally I find both quite boring apart from a handful of songs :zipped:

Quality and Gutter Rainbows on the other hand are both very good efforts. Especially Quality which has one of the best mix of songs since Biggie's Ready to die.

Even though I'm not a Paz fan, Psycho Social, Violent By Design, Visions of Ghandi, LOB and SIH, KIH is a strong discog

OutKast definitely have a shout.

Not a fan of Ghostface Killah, could never got into his work

Like Water For Chocalate and Be are the only really great Common albums, imo.

The Roots definitely have a shout

Masta Ace has 2 good albums (SH & Sittin On Chrome) and 2 classics (Disposable Arts & Long Hot Summer) - not a fan of his debut.

de la soul - see Ghostface

Never got round to MF Doom's work - his production is great though from what I've heard. What's his best album?

Kool G Rap has a shout, I'll agree with that. 4,5,6 is the only album I still regularly listen to, however

CunninLynguists - 3 great albums (first 3) for me.

^ thats fair enough man :y:

Looking at Talib's discography again, nothing is outright bad (rare in a 5+ hip hop artists discog) and I can't deny that Blackstarr, TOT or Quality are great, and in the case of Blackstarr, classic works

You know how's got a ridiculous discog? Scarface

Geto Boys stuff:

Making Trouble
Grip It! On That Other Level
The Geto Boys
We Can't Be Stopped
Till Death Do Us Part
The Resurrection
Da Good da Bad & da Ugly
The Foundation

Solo

Mr. Scarface Is Back
The World Is Yours
The Diary
The Untouchable
My Homies
The Last of a Dying Breed
The Fix
Balls and My Word
My Homies Part 2
Made
Emeritus

Christ, thats unbelievale :o

Okay yes but technically that's not Paz's is it? It's Jedi Mind Tricks. Without Stoupe's production would they really be as good?

I listened to Season of the Assassin, and it was alright but it was nothing on those you listed. Wonder why.

Because Vinnie Paz fell the fuck off. If you look at his collabs from his prime that weren't over Stoupe beats they were still good as fuck so there goes that logic.

Oh what so you think Servants in Heaven Kings in Hell would really be as good without Stoupe's beats? That's bollocks.

No, I never said that, but implying that Vinnie Paz would be nothing without Stoupe's production is also "bollocks". They're both amazing
