*sigh* dude you have good opinions a lot, but sometimes you're just argumentative to a point where I honestly don't even care. Obviously everyone has different taste, you like K-OS, cool. I'm sure he is a more versatile MC, cool, lot's of rappers are lyrically better than Kanye. Lyrics are only one aspect. To me, Kanye has a far better voice, infinitely better beats and production courtesy of himself, better song writing, and is more relatable. And I enjoy his lyrical style way more. Like K-OS more, I don't care, This thread isn't "Kanye is the greatest of all time" it's just me saying why he's one of my favorites.

Not one of those songs you listed can touch Kanye's best. Their just dope songs, Kanye has cinematic classics. To me, Kanye doesn't even make beats, he lays down mini-symphonies, There are so many small intricities to his music, it's ridiculous.

Rakim and Common are 2 of my favorites. They also have nowhere close to the cultural influence, or influence on hip hop as a whole, as Kanye.

I'm not gonna get into a debate over what rappers were political or hardcore or gangsta or whatever. I know you enjoy nitpicking at every little thing, I honestly don't care that much. If you deny that Kanye massively changed the rap game in a way that no other MC could, you're just blind to the truth.

Ya, fashion is subjective. You like dressing ghetto? Fantastic. Do it. But I prefer to dress in a manner that is both original and respectable to the general public. They look like fags? Really? That's honestly played out. 1) IDGAF if someone's gay or not and 2) They are actually dressed real fresh IMO.

Yeah I know I just felt like being an asshole and picking apart you're points, haha.

But Kanye has more influence than Rakim, really?

I only said they looked like fags, because you're trying to be deragatory towards "hood"attire.

But whatever, Kanye's dope I just like going into threads and arguing with page long posts for the sake off it.

Kanye is my third favorite rapper (and artist for that matter) probably. I have a couple of problems with him though. He puts a ton of filler on his albums imo. College Dropout for example would be even better if it wasn't for those shitty skits. Late Registration was good, but not even close to the greatness of the first album. Graduation has some of the catchiest songs in his career, and the production is great. Didn't think too much about 808's and Heartbreak, and I love MBDTF.

My favorite Kanye songs: Slow Jamz, We Major, Homecoming, Devil in a New Dress and All of the Lights.

Haha I know it's cool.

And yes, he does. I'm not saying that arrogantly or ignorantly either. I love Rakim, he had a HUGE influence, but Kanye has the most influence on the current rap game and IMO more overall influence than Rakim. He's just more of a visible and vocal figure in hip hop.

And yeah, Hood attire just isn't appropriate in modern society man. It makes you look ignorant and immature. You can dress incredibly well without looking like Mr. Rogers. When I was like 13/14, I always rocked Air Forces, baggy jeans, and big hoodies. Then I grew up. I still will rock some nice Nikes, but now my jeans fit, and all my clothes aren't made by athletic or streetwear companies. I'm not some douche decked out in 100% Polo either, I just dress nice.

He doesn't have many filler songs, just skits, and that's not really filler. I love them it's Bernie Mac dude! Plus it adds to the cinematic feel of the albums.

And you don't think Late Registration was even close?! They're real similar IMO, both excellent.

I know I was supposed to fuck off, but I'd be violating my principles if I left without any proper closure.

He has more impact not influence, just like how Rakim has more influence than a ton of mcs who sold 100X what he did, he changed the game permanently and just about ever mc after him has credited him with his rhyme style.

And for some fun red herrings

The Low End Theory sold a lot less than R2D, but has more INFLUENCE than it. So do OB4CL and Endtroducing.

Nice depends on how much income you have, not everybody could afford a gucci leather bag, and gabban sunglasses. Plus some might just like the simplicity off it, and the rugged look off it.

Yeah true on the influence/impact thing. Rakim for sure influences more people, but Kanye made the overall bigger impact.

And nah man, I can't afford that ish. I mean, I could buy it, but then I'd be going pay check to pay check on food and gas and whatnot. Jeans that fit you aren't any more expensive, ya know? And you can get nice looking clothes for just as cheap. I'm not materialistic at all, I usually don't care about a label, if it's nice it's nice. Hell, I wear some leather boat shoes all the time and they were on clearance for like $25. They're crazy fresh, work well with jeans and a T or a shirt and tie.
