two classic tracks
one lil beef i have with Beautiful is the lack of proper de-essing...perhaps magnified with mastering and boosting of all levels to make it ready for the booming speakers generation

Going Through Changes is better than Deja Vu... and is his best song since '02.

I think it's debatable which is better of those two, personally I think I prefer "Deja Vu" but they're both great tracks but... best song since '02? nah.

"Almost Famous", "Cinderella Man" and "Space Bound" are all better.

Emotional tracks are pretty yawnworthy. It's okay now and then but I'd take something like "Almost Famous" over 'boo-hoo my life' any day.

Cinderella Man is equal to GTC in terms of quality.

The only songs that come close from 02-11 are Deja Vu, SWA, Bully & Yellow Brick Road.

Nah. I don't think they're equally in quality for one thing, it's pretty spurious to say 'equal' to me given how different they are in tone and subject-matter.

How can you compare a horror movie to a drama....

You could compare two songs which aim for the same thing but... I couldn't even compare "Stay Wide Awake" to songs from The Eminem Show. I mean, overall I could say the end result is a lasting song that is up there with his best but, there's no direct comparison for me. Too different.

But, "Almost Famous" is definitely up there. It's the audio equivalent of three rounds with Tyson. Absolutely fucking brain-thumping and the peak of Recovery for me. Totally relentless lyricism and flow, great heavy beat to match and the chorus is a nice contrast - with that eerie singing. It's like audio-gasm when he's like "I'M ALMOST FAMMMOUUS..." then the chorus comes in.

It totally captures the hunger and energy and it's a great concept. Easily up there.

That's why I said "quality". As songs, I think Going Through Changes & Cinderella Man are both around a rating of 9.5/10. Most likely, giving Going Through Changes the upperhand.

You CAN compare different songs for the final product... how it sounds and which one is musically better. I think, it's pretty obvious that Lose Yourself is better than Music Box. You can also compare them for their technicalities; rhyming, flow, delivery, word choice, overall lyricism. Just about every technical aspect. But, of course you can also appreciate different songs for different reasons.

Almost Famous is a real good song, I won't take away any credit from it except for the fact that he could have executed the concept a little better.

No Apologies is 10x better than any Recovery or Relapse track.
