How can you compare a horror movie to a drama....

You could compare two songs which aim for the same thing but... I couldn't even compare "Stay Wide Awake" to songs from The Eminem Show. I mean, overall I could say the end result is a lasting song that is up there with his best but, there's no direct comparison for me. Too different.

But, "Almost Famous" is definitely up there. It's the audio equivalent of three rounds with Tyson. Absolutely fucking brain-thumping and the peak of Recovery for me. Totally relentless lyricism and flow, great heavy beat to match and the chorus is a nice contrast - with that eerie singing. It's like audio-gasm when he's like "I'M ALMOST FAMMMOUUS..." then the chorus comes in.

It totally captures the hunger and energy and it's a great concept. Easily up there.

You CAN compare different songs for the final product... how it sounds and which one is musically better. I think, it's pretty obvious that Lose Yourself is better than Music Box. You can also compare them for their technicalities; rhyming, flow, delivery, word choice, overall lyricism. Just about every technical aspect. But, of course you can also appreciate different songs for different reasons.

Yeah but some songs are just too different to the point where... it almost doesn't make sense to compare them. Like if you tried to compare... "Role Model" to... "Mockingbird" for example. They have such different aims and therefore obviously such different productions, approaches to lyricism, intent and so on that... it's pretty bizarre to say "Role Model" (for example) is better.

But, if you compared like, two battle rap tracks. Or two tracks whose aims and themes were remorse or X emotion, or, two political songs etc.

And, I wouldn't say it's obvious "Lose Yourself" is 'better'. Again, okay yes musically it is. But... in no way shape or form is "Music Box" trying to compete. So it's kind of strange to say it as if "Music Box" is an inferior attempt or lesser thing. Its aim is entirely different.

And yes you could compare individual aspects but those are not absolute again, because when you're writing about chopping people up and going on murdering sprees it's perhaps much easier to rhyme endlessly than it is when talking about real life issues. So once again, it's odd to compare the rhyming in say "3am" to "Going Through Changes". You could compare them as a matter of fact and say the rhyming in "3am" is better, but they're not in competition with each other.

But as for overall songs, "Almost Famous" is instantly up there for me. And, maybe the concept could of been done a little bit better but those verses are pretty fantastic and the concept is still done very well in the second verse especially. The lyricism in that blend is an eccletic mix of his many sides at once. Each verse is like a line of cocaine to me, or... leading up to sniffing the line then just as I sniff it the chorus comes in as the release.

It's like "I'MMMM ALMOOOST FAMMMMOOUU (sniff!!!) SSSS... *chorus* (release)". Its overall effect is magical. And "Cold Wind Blows" is an instant classic to me too. Everybody seems to love his real life tales, I've found them pretty tedious for some time now. Would much rather hear some well-focused lyricism, for its own sake - as long as it's good. I'm a fan of lyricism, not drama.

I don't have a cat, so I don't know what you're talking about. Not to mention my brother looks nothing like him, and neither do I.

The... "one, two, three four" one? I wouldn't go that far.

The "Microphone" freestyle for sure though. I'd say that's the best he's been since he's come back. Why can't he make an album like that.

The one where he started off "Me and westwood blastin off, jackin off in a pair of acid wash bumpin Asher Roth"

The Microphone freestyle wasn't even good.

That one is good but nowhere near the "Microphone" one.

How is the "Microphone" freestyle not good?

It's the perfect blend of his character, the writing has that literary edge to it, but it's still dark and authentic and the structure and flow are fantastic...

Menacing stance
Making the hairs all on the back of ya neck stand like Dracula yep
Spectacular rep
He's a tarantula / gargantuan

Cutting and pasting headlines from the papers
Making shrines of my crimes and capers

That's actually decent writing again, the imagery he's creating. 'making shrines of my crimes and capers'. To me, that's funny imagery and that's definitely getting back to the vintage wit where he's a mean-spirted bad-ass taking relentless revenge on society for his own pleasure. Much better than shoving things up asses or dick puns.

I can't see how you think the prior one is better than that freestyle. Unless you're just obsessed with the multis again lmao?
