by that logic, late doesn't rhyme with afraid, either. Wait, assonance? What's that? That doesn't count!

You are the one claiming I'm "arguing with the dictionary."

Except I'm not. The dictionary says you're wrong. So you can go ahead and drop that one.

The art of "slant rhyming" in rap music ALSO says you're wrong. "Afraid" uses a long A sound. "Scared" does not.

So now we can get back to the heart of the debate, which is your claim that rappers choose whether or not to align the syllables of their multis based on the beat...the thing that has you in a panic and questioning your whole existence as an aspiring rapper.

Don't worry, it's not too late to change for the better. Now that you know, you can start properly aligning your rhyme syllables and improve the quality of your songs. Thank God Amadeo and I told you! No need for a "thank you" letter, though. We know you're eternally grateful.

Attempting to argue against the dictionary again. Assonance. Assonance. Assonance.

Block wrote:Again, arguing semantics.. And still wrong.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/scared

[skair]

^^ We see that they pronounce it as sk-air, correct? ai is a stressed 'a' sound. Oh, it's not? Wait, wait, wait.. Doesn't the word afraid come stock with an ai already in it? AND THEY HAD THE NERVE TO USE "AI" AS A PRONUNCIATION GUIDE FOR THE WORD YOU SAID DIDN'T STRESS THE SAME SYLLABLES?? THOSE BASTARDS.

Okay, let's look up the word 'air' since they used that in the sample pronunciation.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/air

Definition number 8:
Music .
a. a tune; melody.
b. the soprano or treble part.
c. an aria.
d. Also, ayre. an Elizabethan art song.

Oh, ay isn't a stressed 'a' sound now, either? Okay, let's scroll a little further down the page.

Origins.

Latin āēr- (accusative āerem ) < Greek āer- (stem of āḗr )

OH. You mean those lines? Yeah. It's a stressed 'a' in both words. Even if it wasn't (which it is) The words are seemingly identical when spoken. The only differentiating attribute is that scared has the 'r' sound after the strssed 'a' --and before the 'd' sound--while afraid has the 'd' sound immediately after the stressing of the 'a'.

Again, this is semantics and your arguments were made void after agreeing with me. Good day, faggots.

So now we can get back to the heart of the debate, which is your claim that rappers choose whether or not to align the syllables of their multis based on the beat...the thing that has you in a panic and questioning your whole existence as an aspiring rapper.

I already won that when you agreed with me. You didn't? Actually, you both did.

What's the point of going back and forth again? I've already proven my undoubted superiority over both of you try-hards. Even in a two on one situation, I manage to make you both look ridiculously incompetent while simultaneously making you BOTH agree with my argument. How, with any shred of dignity, can you even attempt to argue after agreeing with me? You've gotta be the most delusional member of this forum.

K Block is right, if you take out the r in scared it rhymes with afraid so his assonance/repetition of vowles argument would be correct.

Assonance is the repetition of vowel SOUNDS. The vowel sounds are different in "afraid" and "scared."

I already won that when you agreed with me. You didn't? Actually, you both did.

Nah, you think misaligned multis, even ones that are 2+ syllables off, are perfectly cool and just as awesome as properly aligned ones. Neither of us ever agreed with you there.

Except I wasn't being sarcastic.

Now you're boring me and not saying anything new.

Oh and nice biting the structure of that "how to" post, lmaoooo. Trying to pass it off as your own. You really are pathetic.

The worst part about you and your mentality is that you're delusional enough to somehow believe that you are correct and righteous with what you say. Even when all the proof is against you and points to the contrary. I'm not sure if it's annoying, per se, but it's hilarious to watch unfold. Digging yourself deeper and deeper while you end up agreeing with me.

It's an amateur mistake. They believe the vowels sound different because the consonants make a completely different sound. Even when proven wrong with the pronunciation in the dictionary, they continue to prove their ignorance and lack of common sense.

Okay, class and Block are definitely trolling now.

Afraid and scared have a different 'A' sound - that's obvious. Second 'A' in afraid = long. 'A' in scared = short.

Obviously it can change if you remove letters, as class proved. But if your taking the words as they are then they're different. Without doubt.

But I'm not getting into this debate as I'm sure they're trolling.

Lmao. Yes, if you completely change a word into another word (in your case, your new word doesn't even exist), you can force it to rhyme with something else.

You see, "smoke" doesn't rhyme with "cat," but if you remove the "s", the "m," the "o," the "k," and the "e," and replace them with "r," "a" then "t," then it rhymes with cat!

It's the biggest reach ever to claim "scared" rhymes with "afraid." I can't think of a single accent in the world where those two words rhyme.[/quote]

You're wrong.
