What's wrong with Lil Wayne???

OK, I love great Lil Wayne tracks. They are amazing. I routinely defend him on here and advocate all the great songs he has.

However, I can admit he has a huge problem: He is the most bipolar MC in the history of hiphop IMO. No other dude has songs that range from great to god awful as much as Wayne. His hardcore fans love to pull the "he puts out so much music, some will be bad" card, BS. That works for saying he'll have a lot of mediocre or forgettable stuff, but some of it is straight awful. I like some stuff off Rebirth, American Star is a sick car song, but some of it is just unbelievably bad.

Thing is, he didn't really get wack until around C3, which was still very good, but did have weak songs and verses. While he's never been the best rapper alive, you couldn't knock his hustle around C2 and Tha Drought mixtapes. Now? He's routinely wack. No Love? Dope. John? Cat vomit.

It makes me wonder if he's kind of in his Encore stage right now. He was obviously addled up on drugs for years, and I assume weed and coedine wasn't the only stuff Weezy was doing. Does he realize how bad some of the stuff he says is? He's really a pretty smart dude, or he was at least...

Wayne could be a great MC, when his verses are on point, they're sick. But with all the bad stuff recently, he is really harming his legacy. I'm getting tired of defending him when he has songs like John on his signature album series. Also, it kinda pisses me off how he's hurting Drake's potential.

I agree 100% with everything you just said. I think one other thing is that he does music with so many people. Say if he gets a call from Madonna. Now Wayne is a music enthusiast, of all genre's, so he'll go there, lay down his vocals, and see how it turns out. But i bet before he even hears the real thing through twice, he's off to work with someone else or to tour. Collabs are his main downfall, they don't all work, as much as you can see he's wanted them to.

Although on another point, I saw a YouTube comment the other day saying-

'Eminem is the best rapper alive! Busta Rhymes is decent, but at least he's better than Lil Wayne, he's the worst rapper EVER..'

And loads of people gave it thumbs up.

For some reason Wayne has turned in to the well respected and long standing figure of rap that people are allowed to openly hate on. He's put out some CLASSIC shit, to the point where you hear it and for that moment think, 'Holy motherfucker.. This dude could be the GOAT'. So a few autotune tracks wipe all of this away then? Wayne has his punchline game on fucking point, and suddenly cos he does it, 'punchlines are wack?' Despite arguably the GOAT of rap being a punchline rapper (Big L).. BULLSHIT.

I'm all for equal opinions, but when we're in a genre that takes so much technique, hard work and a strong discography.. Common sense has got to come in to it as well. And I will come forward and give a reality check..

IF you don't like Wayne, whether you've listened to a few songs, secretly don't like rap music apart from Eminem and are lying that you've listened to him, or if you've done the fair thing and listened to a few albums.. And you DONT like him.. Fair does. He's not your thing. Move on. If he does a song with your artist, hold up, you might even enjoy him on that one.

But if you say that he's the worst rapper ever. Shoot yourself. Seriously. Just do it. Because it's disgusting that you can disrespect one of the leading Emcee's of our generation by giving him that label. It's lazy, it makes you look stupid, and it makes you a hypocrite. Because if someone came on here and just said 'lol eminem is fucking wack man, feminem is always on his gay shit, his music makes my ears bleed'.. YOU. WOULD. GO. MENTAL. You'd all rush around writing essays and examples of why their opinion is ignorant, and why, just because the artist doesn't appeal to them or that they just don't understand it, they shouldn't just disregard it in one sentence.

You have to look at his commercial aspect as well. Hes not just making music for the fun of it. Hes making money at the same time, its a business.

Thats why 9/10 you will find his good shit on his mixtapes or albums. Or even his older albums trying to prove himself in the game.

He has nothing left to prove in the industry, he already built up his image. He can do whatever he wants and still get attention.

Yeah I think its the drugs.. I'm not the biggest fan of Wayne but I still like a few songs by him.
He's capable of good songs with his punchlines and collabs but he's also known for making pure wackness. I feel where you're coming from..its hard to be fair and open minded when a rapper isn't being very consistent.
