IMO he would've contested Biggie in being the GOAT if they'd both survived. But that's just going from the first 2 works, we all know it can go downhill from there..
My Top 5 (in no order)-

Eminem
Big l
Biggie Smalls
Royce Da 5'9"
Jigga

^Yeah, the guy would battle like 7 dudes at the same time and win. I've also heard that Proof had said that Big L visited the Hip-Hop shop once and roasted 5 guys.

Not surprised. Like Proof, he was a dude found rhymes naturally, he didn't even have to focus.

Such a natural rhymer, great grasp on multies which added to his smooth yet raw flow. You can see how much his rhyme schemes influenced Eminem.

His punchlines are ridiculously overrated though.

It's a shame we have so little material from him.

Exactly. As for his punchlines, I think the way he delivered them makes them worthy of the praise they get, plus he was the one who popularized punchlines in the first place. Even though it was Lord Finesse who massively used them prior that and obviously influenced L.

Big L's brother, Don, has said that there's plenty of material left in the vaults so whenever Finesse and Premo jump on that project we should get something fresh. The thing is, L's father who had abandoned him just like Em's dad now wants a percent of the profit and Finesse refuses to do anything if that should be the case. Though that might have been cleared up in the meantime, I don't know for sure. But anyway, there are plenty of freestyles and unreleased songs which is good enough for the time he got to make music. But yeah, it's still not enough from fans point of view.

I like him and it's a shame he had to die so early, but I believe he has one of the biggest "death hype" out off all the dead rappers.

It was just a compilation of unreleased songs.

Definitely not if you compare him to Biggie and Pac.
