Just a few songs I believe where made before the Relapse sessions but after he got sober. So spring to summer 2008.
My Darling
CWYWF
Elevator
He talks about his addiction which he wouldn't have done 2007 as he wouldn't have admitted he was an addict yet. His voice sounds better than pill-Eminem but not fully recovered and he hadn't started using the accent yet and his rhyming isn't quite there yet but it's an improvement of his pill stuff.
I guess that's why he felt the need to put them out. To show what he made during those early sessions. They're all produced by himself as well, which is a sign.
I reckon Em shaped the start of the album (Dr West and 3AM) around My Darling. I'm 90% sure this was going to be used as the second track on Relapse. The fact he 'wakes up' at the start of My Darling following the alarm at the end of Dr West. Then the devil taking over at the end of My Darling which would link directly to his acts and the devil noises in 3AM.
Not sure why he decided against it in the end. Maybe he felt the sound of his voice and the production was too much of a contrast.
I have a hunch CWYWF was made to be used as an opening track as well - that 'news' stuff at the begining as an intro - but then as the Relapse sessions started he felt it didn't fit, which was probably right. I'm glad he left it.
And obviously Elevator would have been on Relapse 2 (or at the least, as a bonus).
