Eminem's First Tracks When He Got Sober

Postby MikeNUFC » Apr 14th, '11, 19:40

Just a few songs I believe where made before the Relapse sessions but after he got sober. So spring to summer 2008.

My Darling
CWYWF
Elevator

He talks about his addiction which he wouldn't have done 2007 as he wouldn't have admitted he was an addict yet. His voice sounds better than pill-Eminem but not fully recovered and he hadn't started using the accent yet and his rhyming isn't quite there yet but it's an improvement of his pill stuff.

I guess that's why he felt the need to put them out. To show what he made during those early sessions. They're all produced by himself as well, which is a sign.

I reckon Em shaped the start of the album (Dr West and 3AM) around My Darling. I'm 90% sure this was going to be used as the second track on Relapse. The fact he 'wakes up' at the start of My Darling following the alarm at the end of Dr West. Then the devil taking over at the end of My Darling which would link directly to his acts and the devil noises in 3AM.

Not sure why he decided against it in the end. Maybe he felt the sound of his voice and the production was too much of a contrast.

I have a hunch CWYWF was made to be used as an opening track as well - that 'news' stuff at the begining as an intro - but then as the Relapse sessions started he felt it didn't fit, which was probably right. I'm glad he left it.

And obviously Elevator would have been on Relapse 2 (or at the least, as a bonus).

Lol no way. Difficult was 2006, soon after Proof died. Pretty much everything about it points to it being from that period.

i said that considering what he says in the last verse
believe me, I know you’re the one who taught me to
throw them balls back on Dresden
from making cars to paintballing
getting arrested
to sitting across from eachother in cells laughing and jesting
they tried to hit us for 5 years for that, no question
I guess them hookers and bums that we shot up
didn’t show up for court
so we got off on a technicality, left sweating

is reflected in the Book "The Way I Am" .

Elevator, I'm so sure about that. The rhyming is too good compared to CWYWF and My Darling.

It's not really that great rhyme-wise. The second half of the 3rd part if the only decent part rhyme wise.

From what I remember it's decent. I assume when you say it doesn't have that good of rhyming, you're referring to the part where he rhymes those Hailie and play me rhyme, right?

I'm pretty sure before those series of rhymes he has a set of mother/fucking/another and such rhymes. Don't know if you caught them.

Overall, I'd say it's way better rhyming-wise than those two songs so that's why I have my doubts.

the 3rd verse on Elevator does not show signs of being sober .

I don't think Wee Wee was intended for anything. I think it was just a song to exercise his writing skills and just to have a laugh.

Contrary to popular believe, the rhyming on Wee Wee is actually pretty good. So perhaps it wasn't recorded around the same time as My Darling/CFWYWF/Elevator.

Elevator's rhyming is quite good, much better than CFWYWF. Because of this, I don't think it was recorded during the same sessions as CFWYWF.

He used that 'Never Enough' boring ass rhyme scheme. He had one rhyme that was alright - 'mother raise me/(a)nother baby' in the first verse. Even the 3rd verse's rhymes were nothing special ("countin sheep/now theres beef/houses teeth" etc was the best part)

It honestly wasn't that much better than the over two songs rhyme-wise (except CWYWF second verse - sounds more like his pill stuff), especially as he wasn't writing to any particualr concept.

I reckon those stupid ass leaks that BILI mentioned are from 2008 as well. Em just fucking about to get back into the shape of writing/recording. All Em produced as well so I assume there from that era.
