The song is "anthemic" because it has a beat for such, was Eminem's first single and because its name is "Not Afraid" which is very catchy and used often to lead to the name "Recovery"


In its execution though, not quite. As MikeNUFC pointed out, (which Guess_who still cant understand) the WAY it was done is awful. Punchlines where hit and miss... after hearing 15 in 5 minutes you bound to like one or two but cringe through most of it. The pitch on the hook... esp towards the end... is quite bad. No wonder he has relied on sampling and Liz Rodriguez/ Rhianna/ Skylar Grey recently.

To the Op- the majority of the people in the thread concede the song is flawed with quite a few of those who like it agreeing its not exceptional. Maybe you should elaborate what "mediocre" to YOU means

I love Not Afraid. I can't remember ever disliking it. I don't evaluate it, I just listen to it & I enjoy it
