Stillmatic.

Been doing this for more than a quarter century, I'm just numb...

Depending on my mood it could be any one of:

Illmatic
It Was Written
Stillmatic
Lost Tapes
God's Son
Hip-Hop Is Dead
Distant Relatives

Right now, it's God's Son

Not many albums have helped me understand the art of hip hop as much as Illmatic has so that's my favourite.

Something I wrote a few days ago:

Nas revolutionized people's way of thinking rhymes and had some of the most vivid songwriting that has ever been released. Show me an album from the last ten years that is as good as Illmatic in terms of rhymes and imagery. It is the blueprint of hip hop in almost every possible way + it is, along with Michael Jackson's Thriller, a perfect example of "less being more". A lot of artists could learn from that (I'm looking at you, Snoop).

It Was Written and The Lost Tapes are amazing too. IWW because of the concepts and execution; TLT pretty much for the same reasons, it's just a little easier to relate to.

Lost Tapes.

Wasn't really an actual album, which I think worked to his benefit. These were individual songs he made because he had the inspiration to make them.
