No, it has nothing to do with knowing more about actual hiphop, and I've said it in only 2/3 threads. It has to due with understanding how big something is culturally. Like, soccer isn't exactly huge in America, so if I applied that assumption worldwide, I'd be a moron. That dude assumed since the Tatu song was popular in Russia, it'd be popular everywhere, not true. TBH no rapper even thinks about Russia when they record, and I simply pointed that out. He also thought the song I listed wasn't big (since it wasn't in Russia) when in fact it was the #4 record over here when it came out. Like it or not, America dominates hiphop.

I'm still pissed at Weezy for taking Em's track, but until I hear it I can't judge. If he does it in a way substantially different than Stan and it's respectful/tasteful, it could be great.

People did a lot of whining about how Swizz basically didn't even sample and just lifted the beat. The two songs I posted are "sampled" in the same manner, i.e. practically not changed at all like the Swizz beat. The two I posted are hip hop staples, so it's hypocritical for people to bitch at Swizz. Get it?
